Whanga Butcher Shop Whangamomona

Riverside Cottage with kitchen and fireplace
This Butcher Shop is in the village of Whangamomona. A comfortable house for your stay here. A fully furnished house with a fully stocked kitchen which will allow you to either eat here or eat out. We bought this around 5 years ago and it has taken a while to get it renovated to what it is today. It was quite a job with not much going in the direction of how we wanted it to! But by this time we are very happy with how it is and hope that you are too. Whangamomona is largely a place to relax and enjoy. Or you can go exploring the village and even walk the Whangamomona Road which is sure to please. There are many points of history around this area with a lot of wonderful pictures to view in the McCluggage Store, right next door. We have a library of books for you to enjoy reading and a good few magazines to get through. Games are stacked on the bookshelf for a fun night in. Please note the cost for 1 person is $100 per night. Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included);
Guest accommodation at this cottage offers fireplaces. Kitchens offer fridges and microwaves.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on-site or nearby; fees may apply.

What a gorgeous cottage we loved our stay 😍 bed super comfy everything we needed. We will be back 😀

5/5 Excellent

Great place to stay
The Butcher's shop was wonderfully clean and everything we wanted was there (including local honey and home made jam). It is an old building which has been restored and renovated, so is very comfortable, but does have some interesting features like uneven floors in part. It is right on the main road, but there is so little traffic it is very quiet. I had to call the owners the morning we were about to arrive about a potential issue unrelated to the venue and they were very helpful. Remember that the only food available in Whangamomona is at the pub, and there is no store. Also no WiFi at the Butcher's shop, nor cell phone coverage in the town, But there is a quirky mini golf course there! If you want to get away from the city for a while, it is a fantastic place to go!

4/5 Good

Awesome spot
Unique place. Homely. Continental breakfast included. Overall would love to stay again. Just a couple of things would make this a 5 star stay for me. Outdoor area needed a sweep. And a dangerous looking three seater chair repaired or thrown out. And the very uneven floor in the bedroom. Yes not easily fixed and I did read the reason for it. PS. Delicious homemade plum jam. Thanks.

5/5 Excellent

Very relaxing
Rained the whole time but that did not matter as plenty of books and mags to read and games to entertain us. Short walk to the pub and a great meal.

5/5 Excellent

Work Base
We are working in the local area on a roading project, so the house was a great base, great to get back in the evening and to get the wood fire going, plenty of hot water & space, and just across the road from the local Hotel for Dinner to save us from cooking. probably the coldest week of the year so far so it was great to have electric blankets on the beds also.
