Paddled today from New Stanton to Yukon. Our first trip down this creek. If you're ever in the area, it's a leisurely 7 mile +/- trek. Of course, lots of other opportunities here, but you probably wont see another person along the way.

This iron man is made totally out of railroad spikes. This marks the GAP bike trail in West Newton, PA
Fort ligonier, while being in these united states, was decommissioned in 1766, making it a British military fort. A young George Washington was stationed there alongside an ailing John Forbes. In the 8 years that it existed as a garrison, it was never taken by enemy (French or Indian) force, though the Indians attempted to take the fort twice. The French never tried, and in fact, gave up nearby fort duquesne to Forbes' invading forces. I like to think that those spikes were a good reason the fort never fell, but it probably had a lot more to do with muskets.
