With new restrictions and safety precautions to adhere to, travel looks a little different at the moment. Here are some useful things to know before you head off to Wendland:

• Before locking in your flight, check if any travel restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by reviewing government and travel websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it straight on the reader yourself. After that, hold it up for inspection.
• You are now allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. You'll need to remove it for X-ray screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, place items such as your wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
