Fabulous placed to enjoy Wells Next to the Sea - needs a few tweaks yo justify the cost.

This property is managed by an excellent company and more than happy to give them 5 stars. If a few tweaks were to happen I would have given the property 5 stars. Sad to say simple things missing ie Bread knife No freezer compartment so ice for a gin and tonic is not possible. Old wine glasses which have come to the end if their life and are so easily and cheaply replaced. No large glasses for water or beer. No shaver point in the bathroom (so unable to charge an electric toothbrush) so I recommend you leave a two pin adapter for guest to use. We sourced one from the hardware shop on Staithes Street. Sharp edges on the wooden double bed so the edges catch your legs when you walk passed. Starlings nesting in the eaves so you are disturbed during the night with them moving about, easily solved by filling in the holes. The floor in the living room had broken glass just near the settee very dangerous certainly not cleaned, given the colour of the soles of my slippers the floors were very dirty. No evidence of being mopped. And just on a safety note please make guests aware they step straight out on to (at times) a busy road.

Oyster Cottage October 2021

All in all a great cottage for two. We were out walking most days. This is a comfortable cottage to return to. The total lack of WiFi for the week was irritating.

A charming cottage close to the marshes and heart of the town.

My husband and I have stayed at Oyster Cottage, Wells-next-the-sea twice now: once in 2019 and recently in October 2021. We think it is an utterly charming cottage: very cosy and comfortable. The rooms are smaller than what we are used to - we live in a large rambling old house - but are very cosy and well decorated. The staircase is quite steep and narrow, but care has been taken to ensure as much safety as possible so were not really a problem to us (in our late eighties and seventies and slightly “frayed around the edges”). It is sufficiently well-equipped to enable in-house eating, which we did most of the time with little effort. The location is very good: away from the main town area, so very quiet, but close enough for a quick stroll to its heart, and the marshes as well. We have always managed to park close by, which is an added bonus. All in all, a lovely place to “come home to” at the end of the day and we certainly intend to come again. Excellent cottage with quality finishes and quirky, appealing decor.

Greatly enjoyed our stay at Oyster Cottage. A few more wall and door hooks would be useful (particularly in the bathroom).

Another lovely stay in Wells

Car parking was not a problem for us as we know Wells really well. However, for those that don't then parking off site could be difficult as there was no opportunity to park apart from drop off and pick up of personal belongings. Probably won't re book but enjoyed the week.

short stay

Pleasant enough but stairs really steep in cottage! Smaller than thought, my husband banged his head several times in kitchen. No microwave but had all other amenities. It was ok but probably would not return because of the size.

Quirky , perfect location

Super location , couldn’t be better for amenities , walking with a 4 year old Lovely, tasteful cottage ...nicely laid out ...felt very at home IMMEDIATELY , calming colours Very comfortable bed and linen ...can tell it’s good quality . Busy road for passers by and some cars whizz down but nice atmosphere in the area and most people friendly No parking , but all perfectly manageable using side streets and it’s FREE Some things to note A hook in bathroom would be beneficial The cleaning wasn’t up to 10/10 ...maybe only 7/10.... I had to address one or two things as I arrived Microwave was missed Possibly drawer liners in the drawers as older style so I laid towels in before putting our clothes in An information book about where things are kept : the iron , needed it but only discovered on last night

Calm, classy and comfortable

Having spotted Oyster Cottage a while ago I was lucky enough to get a week at the end of July. The property is just lovely and tastefully decorated. It's not only the look but the comfort and facilities were also excellent. Although small one didn't feel cramped, the living room is a good size with Ercol style chairs and a sofa - all good to sit in and not lumpy or sloppy. The kitchen had all the equipment one needs (including a dishwasher). The beds were very comfortable with cotton linen. The walk in rainfall shower had good pressure and there was plenty of hot water. Jolly Sailor yard is an ideal location as it's two minutes from the quay and very close to the main street and it's quiet - avoiding the crowds. We had no trouble parking. Be aware that the stairs are steep but I managed despite having had a knee replacement recently. The wifi isn't great either but I've found that to be the case in Wells so no fault of the cottage. All in all it's just super.

Not what we expected

The cottage is 'dressed" well with LOTS of trendy 'knick-nacks' BUT it is also very small, inadequate storage space both in the kitchen and bedrooms. No microwave, no freezer/chiller , no DVD facility, no outside space, no designated parking space.

February half term stay

A very pleasant stay, very comfortable only a few points of note. Boiler controls are all over the place in terms of times, and boiler is in need of service. Also it would sound as though something is in the roof space ie squirrrel or similar as at night it scurries around quite a bit. Finally which is only a wish, due to time of year heated towel rail which is listed as available and is not actually there would have been useful. Not wanting to sound like we are complaining as it was a nice stay. If these bits were corrected we would recommend the stay to others

Convenient Cosy Cottage in Wells Next the Sea.

Oyster cottage was very conveniently situated for the shops in Wells and for walks along the coast paths as well as visits to the bird watching sites at Titchwell and Holkham. Brilliant! It was a very cosy cottage with the central heating on a timer for mornings and evenings to the point that I did not actually need to use the wood burning stove. I did light it once however and was pleased with the atmosphere created as well as the warmth it gave out. The main bedroom is small and necessitates a bit of care getting into bed but it is very comfortable and there is ample storage space with the chest of drawers and coat-hooks. I thought that the shower/toilet was very well set out and well lit so the process of preparing for the day was a pleasure. Although there seemed to be no direct heating in this area, it was quickly warmed by the heaters in other spaces. The kitchen was good for food preparation but a bit cramped for eating, so I took food into the lounge. Suggestions:- 1. A crockery drainer would be help in the kitchen. 2. A dust pan and brush would be useful for clearing up around the wood-burning stove. 3. An extra, smaller saucepan would be a boon considering the numbers of people likely to be staying. 4. Some coat hooks in the cupboard under the stairs would make it easier to dry wet coats without dripping everywhere.

Absolutely fabulous, loved this quaint cottage, would definitely recommend.

Loved everything about this beautiful little cottage. Just a couple of things we were not happy with and one was the bed was very uncomfortable, the towels were far too small, so I would advise to take your own. Also we went out one day and when we came back someone had been in to put some more wood in our basket which was very kind, but they left a bright pink bucket in the middle of the room, and we wished they had left a note or rang us as we had some personal items in the room.
