![It was built in 1693/94 by Johann Bernhard Fischer of Erlach for Ernst Rüdiger of Starhemberg under the name Jagdschloss Engelhartstetten. In 1725 the castle was purchased by Prince Eugene of Savoy . It received its present appearance under Maria Theresia around 1765 by the court architect Nikolaus Pacassi . The paintings of the Festaal are by Jean-Baptiste Pillement . From 1945 onwards there was an increasing decline of the castle. Since 1980, it has been restored and now serves as an exhibition and venue. In 2016 Schloss Niederweiden, for example, will be one of four locations of the exhibition on the centenary of the death of Emperor Franz Joseph . In the former Lustschlösschen of the Habsburgs exhibition shows on hunting and leisure are shown in the special show. The hotel is clean and very close to the train station HBF. Our stay for 4 days went till we were missing money. What a disappointment to not be able to trust the employees working there.
