My adult son and I were deer hunting in the Palomar area and our usual place was booked up. This place was perfect for our needs and was pretty close. Amber was a great host and introduced us to some of the many animals she has adopted. I really liked Ricky the donkey. My son wants to bring my grandkids up for a stay so they can enjoy Amber's petting zoo. I really enjoyed this place.

We enjoyed staying in the apartment above the Barn. The mini ponies and the donkey who live on the property are fun to pet, and the chickens, ducks, turkeys and peacocks were all on display. The bed was comfortable, but the chairs and the shower were a bit too small for me, since I am larger than most people. However, the experience was so different from other places I stayed that I enjoyed it despite the inconvenience.
Clean,I may have not read instructions well but would bring own plates/utensils. They're difficult to serve on. Amber provided fresh duck eggs - so generous! The kids loved gently interacting with the animals, though it was difficult to understand what interactions were ok and what weren't. Really lovely location, lovely host. Exact accommodation we were looking for!
We stayed here on our way to the desert. What a unique property! So many fun animals to visit, and Amber was lovely and attentive. We loved the duck eggs she offered and her hospitality.
The animals were all so friendly and well taken care of. Steve and Amber were so kind and showed us all the animals. The barn was rustic and so cute! We had a fantastic time there and it was so peaceful.
The Barn was exactly as pictured. It was clean the host was very sweet. The remote location is perfect for the area. The price was great. I will definitely stay here again.
This is a beautifully maintained mini working farm with a comfy barn and a wide range of animals to check out (some of the rescued). It's in the country and quiet but easy to get to, Amber is a great host, and the bed is comfy. I would definitely return.
This place was magical and provides us with a perfect place to recharge pur batteries. The animals were amazing and the buddhist mediatation center nearby was amazing. Will come back as soon as possible. Amber the host was super helpful and lovely to deal with
The check in process was a breeze when we arrived. The whole farm was so cute and nice to walk around. The miniature horses were adorable and seeing all the other animals definitely made the trip worth it. Gave us a little taste of the homestead life. The barn was set up so nicely inside and it felt like a comfy little home away from home. Would definitely stay here again!

My wife, daughter and myself loved the unique experience of a Barn life with all amenities that an awesome life my p
What a wonderful property and even more wonderful host! Amber was incredible. She took the time to show us around and let us meet all of the animals. My sister loved petting Tom the Turkey. He was suprisingly very mellow. But the one who stole the show and I had to stop by to say hello was the sweetest little donkey. Amber also guided us to a beautiful hike called Blue Lady Mine nearby. If you love crystals and caves, you will love this hike!If we are in the area again, we are definitely staying at The Barn!
Peaceful property with very stylish and very clean barn. Our two sons were amazed with how many animals they could pet. Amber, our host gave us a bowl of carrots to feed to the sheep, donkeys, goats and horses. There are chickens, peacocks, turkey, ducks — we got fresh duck eggs for breakfast! It was an amazing experience for the whole family. Our 2 large dogs were very welcome and had a great time as well.
Very quiet at night. Expected bird noises from the roosters, turkeys, ducks, chickens and pheasants. All the birds were very respectful. All the other animals were very polite as well. Bed was comfortable and the place has character. Fresh duck eggs were provided and they were delicious. Enjoyed our stay and ten minutes to/from Hawkwatch winery….the best wine on the North Mountain Wine Trail. Thanks Amber and Steve.
My grandparents live nearby, so this was a great location with us. They were very candid about the rules and amenities upfront so there were no surprises. It's a super cute place and a great size for a couples getaway, especially if you love animals. It was fun waking up to all the animals on the ranch and a morning walk with the pups. They're very dog friendly with a bed and bowls waiting for your fur babies. Our pups really enjoyed the space and all the smells outside with new friends to meet. We also loved the fresh duck eggs!
The beds were comfortable and the AC cooled down the space pretty quickly from the summer heat. We met the owner while we were there and she was very friendly. We definitely recommend the spot if you're looking for a place in the area. Make sure to find some time to check out the local wineries while you're there too!
My kids love the barn. It's so peaceful up there, animals are awesome, and great place for stargazing. Amber is the nicest host you can hope for. We visit the barn atleast once a year. Hope to be there soon again
We had an amazing stay! Amber was an amazing host! We had a great time seeing and playing with all the animals and the barn house was cozy and perfect for our weekend. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to friends!
This was a wonderful experience for myself and my daughters as you really get to connect with mother nature is out in the mountains. There is very little lights from home and you could see the star so spectacularly bright all the animals that are on the property we got introduced to by the Host). Her name is Amy. We had a wonderful time doing that and then she also introduced us to an area. We could do some knife, throwing as well as the horseshoe pit, and we love the wood-burning fireplace.
