Cozy Lakeside Homestead

Nature's Playground- Social Distance Naturally on a 44-acre lake provides a warm water fishery for largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, and northern pike. Trout are also stocked once in February and bi-weekly March through May. Night fishing allowed.

The house sits right off the Public Access giving a short walking distance to the lake.

The house is equipped with internet and a television. It also has a kitchen and a dining room. One room has a double/full size bed, another bedroom has a twin bed and in the main room there's a queen bed. The bathroom has a working shower and toilet. The sun room has fireplace capable of burning logs, sauna & plenty of room for guest. The hot tub open year around. You'll enjoy your odyssey here for sure.

Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Ensure garbage (even dog droppings) are in a garbage bag and not loose in the garbage can in the little bags. Turn off AC or heat. Turn OFF hot tub. Lock all doors and windows.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Nice weekend away

Great little cabin to getaway to for a weekend. The hot tub was a treat, and the stars were beautiful! We loved how well stocked the cabin was too. So many spices and tools to do all the cooking we wanted to! Very comfy bed as well.

Amazing Romantic Getaway

The cozy cabin had lots of wonderful charm. The outer room had a sauna and a fireplace. The windows were great with a perfect view of the snow. The porch had a very nice with a big hot tub. The bed room was nice with a reading area and the living room has a great TV. We were greeted with cookies and a bottle of the good stuff. I would recommend this cabin and we cannot wait to go back.

Beautiful weekend!

The cabin was beautiful, with amazing views and countless activities! We loved the hot tub and the sauna! Paula had cookies waiting for us at our arrival! Paula’s hospitality and the wonderful cabin made for a beautiful weekend away with friends! I highly recommend!

quiet getaway

Everything was really nice. The property owner was fast to respond to questions we had. We really enjoyed the hot tub, snacks, and lake. Only thing that may improve the stay would be some better mattresses. Would definitely book this property again.

Cabin in the woods

The cabin/house was wonderful…clean, well equipped, charming, steps from a lake, on an extremely quiet road away from everyone/everything. Saw deer, lots of birds, etc. The host, Paula, was terrific! We loved it!

Anniversary weekend

It was a wonderful weekend away from work to celebrate 39 years of marriage. Everyone was as stated in the listings. The cookies and sparkling cider was wonderful.

Perfect

Our family wanted a weekend away before the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Holiday. This getaway was perfect. I was nervous our kids would be bored but they really enjoyed it and want to come back every year. We brought our dog with us which was a first for our family. She lived her very best life. We played cards, darts, made a fire in the fireplace, enjoyed the hot tub, watched the birds at the birdfeeder, went to the lake and local pizza joint and played outside with our dog. We never even turned the tv on while we were there. I can't recommend this place enough. Very peaceful!

Nice place to stay for a long weekend of hiking

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary with a long weekend hiking and hanging out by the lake. The cabin was very well stocked, and we enjoyed spending evenings in the hot tub and by the fire pit. The Warden Lake public access is directly across the street, and you can even see the lake from the front yard. Paula was very communicative and helpful, and even left us a nice gift of cookies and wine for our first wedding anniversary. All in all we’d highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful Fall Getaway!

Paula was a great property manager. Not only did she leave us cookies, but her home was Clean and equipped with every necessity you could need. I live in the city so the stars at night in WV we’re breathtaking around the cozy fire. The well taken care of property, beautiful scenery, comfortable beds, hot tub/sauna (very clean), and coziness made us feel right at home. Great stay Megan Mulvey

Amazing

My husband and I had a wonderful one-week vacation in the middle of nature in this quiet, peaceful, cozy, and wonderful home! We brought our two dogs; they loved the space as much as we did! We had faced a short power outage because of a storm a couple of minutes before we arrived for our staying, but Paula got in touch with us, and we did not have any issues. She is an amazing hoster, takes care of all details, is kind, and is a great cook! Her cookies are delicious! Also, she left a botter of wine for us! Wow! If you want a place to get away, disconnect from the world, and recharge your energy! This is the place!

We stayed here for 9 days while working. Here’s how it played out:

Your first welcome challenge is to resist a perfectly baked soft and chewy cookie 🍪 Paula has prepared for you. Then wake up in the morning, look out the window and you’ll have chickadees, juncos, goldfinches, titmouses, nuthatches, cardinals, woodpeckers… coming by the bird feeders set up strategically for your appreciation as you sip your coffee. After coffee, walk outside to check on the weather. A great green space lies outside for your dog to play ball. Walk down the driveway and across to Warden Lake with a walking path and back for morning strides to get your blood flowing. Some mornings you’ll witness bald eagle flying over the lake, or a red tailed hawk in the front yard. Back in the house, workdays begin in the sunroom as the morning sun helps you light up the room which also happens to have internet access. You can choose to sit anywhere in the sectional, table, or even a rocking chair by the fireplace if it’s cold enough. Maybe light up a candle or two Paula has left for you. Meanwhile your dog is snoring soundly next to you as they sleep in the nice Serta dog bed Paula has provided, one of two. After the workday is over, it’s time for a nice hot tub on the deck looking out the moonlight or infrared saunas followed by puzzles or games. Or even a movie or favorite show in the Roku tv. Downtown is 10 min away for quick errands or even a nice treat like a hot apple cider at the Lost River Trading Post, pies and even eggs at the Wardensville Garden Market. But not everything is perfect like Paula’s cookies because otherwise where the fun would be in that? So bring your own TP 🧻, paper towels, bird seed, and garbage bags. Internet was about 30 Mbps over wifi so you might hit a snag or two if you’re on a video call with screen sharing or 2 zoom calls at the same time. But works mostly okay. We can’t wait to come back.

Family Getaway

We had a wonderful time! The kids loved the games available and the hot tub. My husband absolutely loved the fire pit and we had a great time at the lake. Will definitely be coming back.
