About this property

Waikoloa Colony Villas - 6 BR (2 townhomes), Sleeps 12

  • Summary:

Welcome to Waikoloa Colony Villas, a gated community of two-story townhomes inside the Waikoloa Beach Resort on the sunny Kohala Coast of Hawaii's Big Island. Your reservation includes two private 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath townhomes: six bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, two full kitchens, two living rooms and two covered lanais, with beds for 12 guests and a sofa sleeper in each living room. It is a great fit for a big family or two families traveling together, with the community's two pools, hot tub, fitness room, tennis and pickleball court and clubhouse on the grounds and the white sand of Anaeho'omalu Bay a few minutes away.

What we guarantee: Both townhomes are always inside Waikoloa Colony Villas, a short walk apart. Townhome 1 is a 3-bedroom townhome and Townhome 2 is a 3-bedroom townhome, with exactly the beds listed below in every bedroom. Townhome 2 has a golf-view lanai, and Townhome 1 has a large covered lanai with the view shown for it in its photos. Both homes are kept to the same quality standard, with finishes similar to what you see in these photos. If we ever could not deliver that, you would approve the alternative first or receive a full refund.

Bed types: Townhome 1 - Master Bedroom: King; Bedroom 2: Queen; Bedroom 3: 2 Twin / Singles (can be made into a king on request at booking). Living room queen sofa sleeper; Townhome 2 - Master Bedroom: King; Bedroom 2: Queen; Bedroom 3: 2 Twins (can be made up as a King on request). Living room sofa sleeper.

Each townhome sleeps 6 guests in beds, for 12 in total. Both homes follow the same easy plan, with a king primary bedroom, a queen second bedroom and a third bedroom with two twin beds that can be made up as a king on request, so couples and kids each have a natural place to sleep.

Good to know before you book: each townhome has its own front door, its own garage and its own entry details, so the two halves of the group keep their own schedules. There is a 4-night minimum, with check-in from 3 PM and check-out by 11 AM.

    The Space:

Townhome 1 (3BR): Townhome 1 is a two-story home with vaulted ceilings, an open living and dining area, a fully equipped kitchen with granite counters, European-style cabinetry and a dishwasher, and a large covered lanai with outdoor dining. Upstairs, the primary bedroom has a king bed, a private lanai and a bathroom renovated in 2023 with a large walk-in shower and dual vanities. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third bedroom has two twin beds that can be made into a king on request at booking. There is also a queen sofa sleeper in the living room. It has central air conditioning, ceiling fans, a washer and dryer with detergent provided, and garage access.

Townhome 2 (3BR): Townhome 2 is a two-story home with a bright living room, a full kitchen with a breakfast bar, and a golf-view lanai. The primary suite has a king bed, a soaking tub and a walk-in shower, the second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third bedroom has two twin beds that can be made up as a king on request. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room. It has central air conditioning, a washer and dryer, TVs in the living room and all three bedrooms, and a one-car garage plus a reserved parking stall.

The community: Waikoloa Colony Villas is a gated community set among the fairways and landscaped grounds of the Waikoloa Beach Resort. Guests share a clubhouse with an outdoor gathering space and lounge, two swimming pools and a hot tub, a fitness room, a tennis and pickleball court and community barbecue areas located throughout the property. One amenity center has a large pool and BBQ area, and the second has a large family pool, the hot tub, the fitness room and a BBQ pavilion. Both townhomes come with Wi-Fi, a hair dryer and an iron. Both townhomes are within Waikoloa Colony Villas, so the whole group shares the same pools, courts and grounds.

Two townhomes rather than one large house give a group the best of both worlds: everyone gathers at the pool, on the court or around the barbecue, and then each family or couple has its own kitchen, living room and lanai to retreat to, so early risers and night owls never get in each other's way.

    Guest Access:

Your reservation includes the private interiors of both townhomes, each with its own front door, garage and entry details, plus the shared Waikoloa Colony Villas amenities: the clubhouse, the two swimming pools, the hot tub, the fitness room, the tennis and pickleball court and the community BBQ areas.

    The Neighborhood:

Waikoloa Colony Villas sits within the Waikoloa Beach Resort on the Kohala Coast, known for its consistently sunny, dry weather, a sharp contrast to the wetter windward side of the island. Anaeho'omalu Bay, known locally as A-Bay, is the resort's picturesque white-sand beach, a few minutes' drive from the townhomes. Its calm, sheltered water is well suited to swimming, snorkeling and stand-up paddleboarding, and sea turtles often rest along the shore. Resort guests enjoy free use of beach chairs at A-Bay along with ocean gear rentals, boat tours and beachside food service and refreshments.

Kings' Shops and Queens' MarketPlace, the resort's two open-air shopping and dining centers, are about a mile away along Waikoloa Beach Drive and together offer the largest selection of shopping and dining on the Kohala Coast: boutique shops, art galleries, coffee shops and an array of restaurants. A gourmet market within the resort makes it easy to stock both kitchens with groceries and essentials without a long drive. Weekly events bring live Hawaiian music, hula performances, lei-making, a farmers market and local crafts.

Golfers can play the resort's courses at a discounted resident rate, and extensive footpaths cross the resort grounds, offering scenic walking and jogging routes. The Kings Trail, a well-preserved Hawaiian monument within the resort, lets you walk in the footsteps of King Kamehameha past petroglyphs and other Hawaiian artifacts, and historic fishponds line the shore near A-Bay.

Beyond the resort, the Big Island's headline sights make wonderful day trips: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the town of Hilo, the green valleys of North Kohala and the cowboy country of Waimea. In winter, humpback whales pass close along the Kohala Coast, and the sunsets over the ocean here are spectacular in every season.

    Getting Around:

Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (KOA) at Keahole is about 17 to 19 miles south, roughly 25 to 45 minutes along Queen Kaahumanu Highway, and is the most convenient arrival point for Waikoloa Colony Villas. Each townhome has a garage. A rental car is strongly recommended for exploring the broader Big Island, including Volcanoes National Park, Hilo and North Kohala, since public transit on this side of the island is limited. Rideshare operates in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area, and the resort's walking paths make it easy to reach A-Bay, Kings' Shops and Queens' MarketPlace on foot.
