SEEN ON HGTV -2024--YOUR YEAR to EXPLORE-- Hale Sweet Hale- HOT TUB -Romantic
Don’t miss your chance of a lifetime to see one of the more active and friendly volcanoes in the world. Come stay at Hale Sweet Hale for an UNFORGETTABLE visit to the Big Island. Volcanoes National Park is just 5 minutes away from Hale Sweet Hale and you’ll be amazed at the lush rainforest that surrounds our cedar log house. See the pheasants that roam the yard; the towering hapu’u ferns reach over15 feet towards the sky; and fragrant kalihi ginger bloom throughout the yard.
The charm starts when you turn off the paved road and onto the gravel road . It’s a very short drive on this road as you travel through the lush surroundings, to then be welcomed into a circular driveway surrounded by luscious scenery and a fairy tale cabin.
As you enter Hale Sweet Hale, you’ll be greeted by the spirit of Aloha. Skylights in all the rooms let in the morning sun and the evening moonlight and starlight. The covered lanai expands across the entire back of the home. You can choose to relax in the hot tub, cook on the BBQ without getting wet from the rain, yet enjoying the view, or simply sit with your thoughts deep meditation surrounded by the quiet and serenity nature has to offer.. Or all of the above!! With our Wi-Fi access, you can keep in touch with family and friends. They’ll wish they were there with you!
The kitchen is fully equipped for your cooking needs. The beds have flannel sheets to keep you warm during cool Volcano nights. For your comfort, there is a towel warmer in the bathroom that keeps your towels cozy warm. End your day (or spend all day) snuggled up by the wood burning stove in the living room.
Come and make your visit to Volcano UNFORGETTABLE.

SOME COMMENTS FROM OUR GUESTS-
"Absolutely beautiful with ALL the essentials. Loved staying here. Saw 5 pheasants in the driveway. It's a little piece of paradise."
"What a wonderful oasis away from it all!. It was a perfect birthday getaway. The house had everything we needed and was so comfortable and welcoming. We had a visit from the local pheasant family and waking up to the dawn chorus was incredible. I loved watching all the endemic birds frolic in the Ohia Lehua trees out back. What an amazing and magical spot."
"Wow! What a gem this hale has been. We are celebrating our 10 years and had no idea this trip would give us a chance to stay in the most beautiful hale we have ever stayed in. "What a wonderful place to come and stay for three nights and soak in the amazing scenery of luch greenery and Volcanoes National Park. Many days spent hiking with a break to relax at this cozy cottage- hot tub, grilled cheese and soup, only to head back out to see the lava at night. Thanks for the firewood and sharing your lovely home with us. We had an amazing time. Until next time...Mahalo."

"We had a lovely and relaxing stay here for our honeymoon. We used the hot tub every morning after a cup of coffee. On our last morning we saw a beautiful three horned chameleon right off the porch. We are truly saddened to be leaving and hope to make it back here again one day to this magical Hale Sweet Hale."

This cute little cabin exceeded our expectations! It was clean, spacious and had lovely little touches like fresh flowers. It was perfectly located for dinner at the Volcano house and a day of exploring the park. It’s a bit tricky to find after dark, but we really enjoyed our stay.
We fell in love with Hale Sweet Hale as soon as we pulled in. It’s very private and well equipped with any amenities you might need. The hot tub was a nice perk after a long day of exploring. The location was so convenient for accessing volcano national park and we timed it just right and were able to see Kīlauea erupting! We managed to get up there a few times as we were only a few minutes away. Perfect!
This is such a cute little house with everything you could need! It is a great place to come back to after a day of hiking and enjoying Volcanoes National Park!
What a wonderful spot! The cabin is adorable with all the wooden cabin-y touches that you want - while still feeling clean, fresh and bright. The large lanai is wonderful for enjoying the beautiful rain forest. And the hot tub is an extra lovely touch. The host is wonderful too. Couldn’t ask for a better stay in Volcano.
The house was immaculately clean, had all the desired amenities, and the location couldn’t be beat for quick access to scenic highways and Volcanoes National Park! The owner was responsive, friendly, and helpful! We would absolutely stay here again!
This home was charming and unique. It had everything we needed and was so close to Volcano National Park. The heated towel rack in the bathroom and hot tub on the porch were wonderful bonuses!
This place is so cute. The perfect cozy cabin getaway! The drive to the cabin feels like you are very secluded, even though there are other houses around. Would absolutely stay here again if we are ever in the area!
We recently had a two-night stay at Hale Sweet Hale and found the cabin to be lovely and perfect as our home base for visiting Volcanoes National Park and Volcano village. The cabin was clean, warm, and well-appointed. The hot tub was in great, working condition. The communication with and directions from the host were excellent. We highly recommend this vacation property and would not hesitate renting it again if we come back to the area.
Peaceful house in rainforest. Comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen. Great fireplace and hot tub. Walking to many cute delicious restaurants. Easy access to Volcano Park and Hilo
I stay in many B&Bs across the country and can literally say this was the absolute best. We all loved the place from the moment we arrived. It is very welcoming with many thoughtful touches. The location was absolutely perfect as it was a bit out of town and very private, but not too far. The woodstove was perfect on cool evenings and they even provided firestarter and kindling. I would definitely stay here again and it will be my go to place on volcano. Loved it loved it. You will not regret staying at this B&B.
Great location to the Volcano national park, adorable log cabin home just as seen on HGTV, well thought out and inviting. Easy check in and out. Easy living so you can get on with your adventures!
Honestly, the hostesses communication was flawless and the property was even better than the listing indicated. My wife and i had the time of our lives. The location felt very secluded and private and the weather was exactly what we needed. Proximity to VNP meant we could hike all day and then relax in the hot tub. Definitely would recommend.
This house is super comfortable, cozy, and clean with gorgeous decor. Rules were strict, which is understandable, but possibly could have been stated in a more welcoming way. I would definitely stay there again & recommend it to others.
We stayed here for several days with our family of 2 adults and 2 kids and it was perfect for exploring Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, which is only minutes away. The kitchen is well supplied and the outside with its porch and hot tub make for perfect relaxing. You're obviously away from Hilo and Kona, but the nearby basic shops and restaurants did the job for us. Be prepared to hear lots of Coqui frogs and that the bedrooms have bright skylights.
We stayed at Hale Sweet Hale for a week in February, 2024. The cabin feels secluded and you feel part of the tropical landscape whether you are relaxing on the back porch, in the hot tub, or inside. It was a pleasant change of pace from the bustling Kona Coast. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedroom was comfortable. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing get away on the Big Island.
You feel as though you are in a hidden paradise starting right off from the beautiful jungle road leading to the cabin. Private little oasis in truth and very relaxing. My family loved the back deck and spent much of our time at the cabin there. The wood fire burner was lovely in the early morning while it was cooler. My daughter loved the hottub and the backyard. All in all was a lovely place to stay while in Volcano and would highly recommend to others.
Hale Sweet Hale was such a treasure. The home is beautiful. It was so peaceful to sit in the hot tub and enjoy the secluded backyard after a day of enjoying the Volcano National Park that is located only a couple of miles away. Cannot say enough about how wonderful and relaxing of a location. Will absolutely be recommending to friends.
Lovely place tucked back in the vibrant green. This was the perfect place to end the day after exploring the island, very comfortable with every amenity that you need. We were able to pick up some food from the local market for breakfast, and we ate at Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant both nights we were there, it was so good.
The hot tub was perfect for the two of us to relax some sore muscles after hiking at the park that is basically across the street from the neighborhood.
I loved the rustic, homey feeling of the cabin. It was the perfect size and configuration. And the bed was very comfortable too.
Partner and I stayed for 3 nights while exploring the east side of the island. Check in was easy, directions were clear. Super clean, very quiet, perfect for 2-4 adults or a small family. Very close and convenient to the park. Had a really good meal at one of the Thai restaurants in Volcano (Thai Thai). Would recommend sleep masks if you like to sleep in, as there are skylights in both bedrooms. This wasn’t an issue for us as we ended up rising early every day. Will definitely try to book this place the next time we’re in town!
My wife and I enjoyed the time we spent at this cabin. Spent most of our time in Volcano hiking in the national park, and it was located ideally for that plan. Even though it is not completely isolated, it feel as though it is, and has is peacefully quiet, which is something we missed when later visiting other parts of the state.
As other reviews mentioned, the only thing to be aware of is the very last few parts of the road right near the site are in pretty bad shape. Was very concerned whenever we had to drive our rental Nissan Altima over these areas. Anything with 4X4 would probably be fine.
The property is in a very nice area, and it was pretty clean. I was thankful for all the little extras, like coffee, spices and detergent to wash our clothes. There were also umbrellas for those rainy days. It rained every day we were there, but most of the time it was a light rain. the funny thing is that if you drove 1/2-hour west-towards Kona, it was dry, sunny and warm. The beach-Punu'lu is only 1/2h away. it's worth the visit. overall, a great experience. oh! the volcano park is only 5min. away.
If you love crowded resorts, this might not be the place for you. We enjoyed our meals on the lanai listening to a symphony of birds. A soak in the hot tub after hiking in the park was such a treat. The owner spared nothing making sure we’d be comfortable. Bedding, towels and blankets in abundance. Unlike other homes we’ve rented, the wood stove fireplace was stocked with plenty of wood for a cozy fire. Yes, it gets cool enough in Volcano for a fire! Hawaii? Lake Tahoe? You won’t be sure except that you’re in the middle of a lush fern forest. Don’t let the unpaved road warning concern you unless your rental car is a Corvette. It’s short and completely manageable. Thank you for all the special touches throughout the home and lanai.
We loved our stay at Hale Sweet Hale, and found the rental even better than the listing. The house was immaculate, the bedding was super comfortable, and all provisions from night lights to tea and coffee were available. We hadn’t comprehended that we would really be in our own private rain forest - the grounds are absolutely beautiful! The art work and decorations throughout the house give an island ambiance, even at 4000 ft.
We went to the park two days and it was less than a 5 minute drive to the entrance, again, even shorter than expected. This allowed us to beat the crowds, as many of the parking lots for the popular areas of the park were full by 10am (we were there the week after Christmas, during high season). It also let us stay in the park later than others, since we had no drive to get home. The second bedroom with twin beds was perfect for our 8 and 6 year old.
As mentioned elsewhere, the last little bit of the road is rock/dirt, and with it raining quite a bit the two days we were there, we felt comfortable going through large puddles with our Jeep Wrangler, but I’m not sure how comfortable I would have been with a lower clearance car. It was our first time staying in Volcano, and it was cute, with good food. We enjoyed both the Oleho Cafe and Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant for dinners. We would definitely stay here again for any visits to the National Park!
