Cute little cottage

Allen and Marie are excellent hosts. We were in Vista for a wedding in San Marcos and this was not only in a perfect location, but also affordable. The cottage is a perfect size for 2.

Perfect Stay, for a little get away!

I had a fantastic stay at this charming property! From the warm welcome upon arrival to the serene atmosphere, everything was perfect. The cottage is beautifully appointed with all the essentials and then some—perfect for both work and relaxation. If you're into hiking, definitely bring your shoes, as the surrounding trails are a must-explore. I came for business but would absolutely return for a retreat. Highly recommended!"

The perfect place to rest

Studies show that birds only sing when they feel safe and the amount of birdsong from many varieties of birds you’ll hear during your stay at Bluebird Cottage are proof that this place is a safe haven. Located far enough from the freeway to be quiet but close enough to visit some great restaurants, Bluebird Cottage is even better than it looks in the pics. Marie and Allan obviously know how to make a house a home and this little space has everything you need to really unwind. The hammock is a great spot for a nap and the back patio is nice for curling up with a good book. The clucking of the chickens was a special joy and reminded me so much of my grandmothers house! If you’re looking to really let your nervous system rest and recover, I highly recommend this beautiful place.

A restful and cozy haven amid the bustle of So. Cal.

A charming and serendipitous find with like minded friendly hosts who's vision for this theme cottage has been expertly and passionately realized. The chickens and rural environs sculpted and tucked away on their acreage was tastefully planted with a beautiful array of flowering plants and tall shady trees. Cottage almost convinced me we were in rural France.

Like Being Invited to a Friend's Home

What a truly wonderful stay we enjoyed at Bluebird Cottage. Communication with the owners was not only easy, it was friendly and welcoming, too. And the compliments don't stop there. We entered our "home away from home" and found this gem truly a "home" that was thoughtfully planned out in decor; every possible thing a guest might need while away was available; and it was evident our comfort was top of the host's list. It was such a joy to come "home" at day's end and have a cozy place to land. One certainly feels they're "getting away from it all" here, yet you're still close to the highway, restaurants, grocery. There is no question that if life's travels have us returning to Vista (and we hope they do), our choice for comfort, atmosphere and friendly hosts would be Bluebird Cottage.

Nice property, but...

When booking the property, pay close attention to the following: Two person max and no visitors You must read and agree to the house rules before booking this place. When they say no visitors, they are adamant. We were in town visiting our son who lives nearby. We went out for lunch one afternoon and around mid afternoon we decided to stop in to our home away from home for rest until dinner time. We were contacted by VRBO and the owner both complaining we had an unregistered guest on the property. I explained the circumstances but was met with unreasonable response, in fact was offered a refund if we could not follow the "house rules". At any rate, it is a beautiful rental but just beware that your every move is being scrutinized. Personally I won't rent another VRBO from a property owner who is unreasonable to people, and only see the world as black or white (no gray area). The Vista area is a good option if you are staying in the area. Also not a long drive to San Diego.

Wonderful cottage

Marie and Allen have a delightfully decorated cottage, a real home away from home. The location is quiet and peaceful, yet only a few minutes away from access to some of San Diego’s best attractions: beaches, wineries, and wildlife park.

Spectacular Hideaway

My third trip to this great little getaway and I am always impressed with the ambiance, cleanliness and comfort. Marie and Allen think of everything. The area has so much to offer- great hikes, great food and close to so many small beach towns to explore. Will come back next year for my solo new years trip.

This charming French-inspired cottage is perfect. So well appointed, clean (I'm very picky), comfortable (every surface has some cozy cover that is so comforting), and quiet. I am so glad we didn't stay in a hotel. This was exactly what I had hoped when I booked it and more. We were able to hike right from the front door.

Adorable cottage on top of a hill

It's exactly as pictured and described. They had everything we needed and even had fresh eggs in the fridge! Slightly warmer in the day with only the fans but the night brought cooler air in. Because it is tucked in the wilderness, bugs were a plenty but they had bug spray even! Hosts were helpful and friendly. Already told family about this cute place!

Charming and comfortable

The Bluebird Cottage provided a wonderful place for us to stay while in town visiting family. Everything about the cottage is exactly as it is described, including a fully stocked kitchen complete with farm fresh eggs! The hospitality of the hosts is unmatched. Hidden Gem great place for a getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it’s comfortable with everything you need & close to the freeways & everything in North County San Diego. Loved the French country decor too! The Hosts, Marie & Allen are nice people who are helpful & responsive. It’s in the woods with a beautiful view but minutes from everything which made it feel like a country getaway.

A Hidden Gem

This is one of those places that you try to find to get away from your crazy life. It is so quiet and peaceful it’s unbelievable. The French decor is so cute and not over done. The accommodations are perfect. This cottage is on the property of the owner but you’d never know they’re around because they are respectful and quiet. This is definitely a place we will return to.
