The best area to stay in Villers-Farlay is directly within the village centre, particularly around the church and the main square.

This small, historic village is quite compact, with its main attractions and amenities clustered together. You'll find the Mairie (town hall) and the Église Saint-Laurent (Saint Lawrence Church) at its heart, surrounded by a few local shops and the village's only restaurant. The Rue de l'Église and Grande Rue are the primary streets, offering a glimpse into traditional Burgundian life.

Couples looking for a quiet, romantic retreat will find the village centre ideal. It offers a chance to experience authentic village life, with lovely walks through the surrounding countryside and vineyards right on your doorstep. The peaceful setting allows for relaxation, and the local restaurant provides a convenient dining option.

For families, staying near the village centre provides easy access to the local playground and open spaces for children to enjoy.

The best time to go to Villers-Farlay is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the weather is typically mild and sunny, ideal for exploring the surrounding Burgundy countryside and vineyards. You'll find the landscape lush in spring with blooming flowers or rich with autumnal colours as the grape harvest begins. This period avoids the hotter temperatures and larger crowds of the peak summer season (July-August) and the chillier, potentially wetter days of winter.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the serene beauty of the region during these shoulder seasons. You can enjoy leisurely wine tastings without the rush, dine al fresco at local eateries, and take scenic drives through the vineyards in comfortable conditions. The quieter atmosphere allows for a more intimate experience of the local culture and gastronomy.

For travellers interested in outdoor activities like cycling or walking, these months offer the most comfortable conditions. The trails through the forests and along the canals are particularly inviting, and you'll find the local markets bustling with seasonal produce.
