Sophisticated, edited--exactly what you want! Casa Sara is a second family home we share when we’re not in the Caribbean. Not a typical VRBO rental. Original art by the owner and other artists, Casa Sara has three spacious BR’s. One full bath upstairs, a full tiled bath with grab bar and seat downstairs. A large, open well-appointed kitchen and dining area ideal for family gatherings, as is the spacious art-filled living room. Perfect for working remotely. Colmado Lydia, a short walk, has all the basics for preparing meals and other needs.
The original builders knew the island and planned to capture the trade winds. Casa Sara stays cool during the day. A constant breeze cools the house just about 4pm as you come back from the beach; a perfect time to enjoy refreshments on the second floor veranda as you watch the sun set into the Caribbean. Casa Sara is in a residential neighborhood with a mix of local and part-time residents.
You do not need a car at Casa Sara. With a grocery store up the street. Casa Sara is steps from the Malecon and its variety of restaurants. Numerous dining choices, with gourmet to casual menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner, all with the island dress code...beachwear! There is a small museum and many shops. Walk to El Bloc, Sun Bay, and other beaches.
Taxis and publicos are available for trips to other beaches and to Isabella Segunda on the other side of the island, with more shopping, restaurants and markets. You can rent a vehicle to explore all that the island offers, including beaches within the wildlife refuge. Casa Sara has private parking behind a gate.
Horses, roosters, iguanas, cats and dogs freely roam the island and its neighborhoods. See an iguana in the palm tree out front and greet the beautiful horses coming down the street. It is all part of the charm of Vieques, and it is why we love Casa Sara, and Esperanza.

The location was great, a quick walk to great restaurants, grocery around the corner, but also just off the Main Street. The house was rustic but clean.
Good location in a great village. Pam was so helpful and everything went well. The property is spacious with everything you need, though a bit run down
The house worked great for our family. We made breakfast at home and we beached all day, then we walked to the Malecon for dinner. The house was well stocked with everything we needed for spending days at the beach and the beds were very comfortable for getting a good nights sleep.
Casa Sara is the perfect location in Esperanza and it is an easy walk to the malecón as well as a food store that is right around the corner. Wilma was an excellent host and easy to get a hold of. Check-in was easy. House looks as shown in the pictures. Thank you Wilma!
We loved the house and felt very relaxed and comfortable. Our teen, especially, enjoyed sitting on the balcony and people watching both day and night. We walked to two beaches in one day! We even snorkeled off of Esperanza waterfront. We frequented all the restaurants on the strip whenever we didn't feel like cooking. Groceries, taxis and bio tours just a short fun walk away.
We’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a convenient getaway. Wilma was incredibly thoughtful and went out of her way to make our stay fantastic. This charming home was in a perfect location, just a short walk to the town or the beach. The house itself is filled with stunning art and the upstairs rooms were artistically painted. While there is no air conditioning, the breeze through the windows kept is comfortable even on warm days.
We stayed four nights at Casa Sara and had an amazing time. Wilma was very responsive and the check in process was super easy. Plenty of room for our family of four. Saved some money being able to cook about half of our meals there at the house. A short walk to the Malecón, Coconut Beach, and Black Sand Beach. We rented a small SUV and the gated parking spot was tight, but worked great. Overall, I would certainly recommend this rental for your stay in Vieques!
Three comfortable bedrooms and two full baths. Spacious living room and kitchen/dining area. Comfortable safe neighborhood with friendly neighbors. An easy walk to the local market and the Malacon with a variety of good restaurants. Beautiful Sun Bay Beach is about a half mile walk away along palm tree lined beaches. Wilma, the owner, is always easy to reach at any time if there is an issue but there never has been one. This was our second stay at Casa Sara and we hope it will not be our last. Enjoy.
Balcony was great - saw some new birds for my life list - the Antillean Crested Hummingbird was feeding on the flowers in all it's mohawked awesomeness! Whole place had a fun low key boho feel. Loved the horses wandering by.
Central location in Esperanza. The property is rustic.
The host was very accessible and worked hard to address our concerns.
The yard needs regular maintenance to manage all the animal droppings, etc. the interior needs a good overall “spring” cleaning and then maintained.
Casa Sara is a real treat—perfectly situated in Esperanza just beyond the Malecon, walkable (if a healthy trek) to several gorgeous beaches and hikes, and spacious enough for a family. While it hasn’t been updated recently, the house (along with the market a block away) has everything you need for a delightful and affordable stay on this beautiful island. Vieques is not the place for an anodyne vacation; the “animal droppings” (left by the beautiful horses that roam the island free) are part of its charm. A fence keeps everything but the local chickens out of the yard itself. The owner was very solicitous and made our check-in as easy as possible. If you want luxury, then I’d advise finding an alternative—perhaps the resort up the road. But if you are game for rustic-yet-convenient, then I’d highly recommend Casa Sara!
