The best area to stay in Vargem Bonita is the main village itself, especially for those who appreciate convenience and easy access to local amenities.

The village of Vargem Bonita is compact and easily navigable on foot. It's built around the main square, Praça Nossa Senhora da Guia, which is a focal point for local life. You'll find most of the guesthouses, restaurants, and shops clustered around this area and along the few main streets that branch off it. This central location means you're never far from a good meal or a place to relax.

For couples looking for a relaxing and convenient base, staying within the village is ideal. You'll have a selection of guesthouses, many with lovely gardens and views, within a short walk of all the village's offerings. This allows for leisurely evenings exploring local eateries or simply enjoying the peaceful setting without needing to drive.

Solo travellers will also find the village centre particularly suitable. It provides a welcoming environment with easy access to information about local trails and excursions. Being in the heart of the village makes it simple to join guided tours or connect with other travellers, enhancing the overall experience.

For those who prioritise a more secluded experience but still want good access, there are a few guesthouses located just on the outskirts of the village, a short drive or a slightly longer walk away.

The best time to visit Vargem Bonita is during the dry season, which runs from April to September.

During these months, you'll experience sunny days and comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period is ideal for exploring the region's natural attractions, such as hiking to waterfalls and enjoying outdoor activities without the interruption of heavy rains. The lower humidity also makes for more pleasant sightseeing.

The wet season, from October to March, brings higher temperatures and frequent, sometimes heavy, rainfall. While the landscape becomes lusher, some roads and trails can become muddy or inaccessible, and swollen rivers might affect waterfall visits. However, this period can be appealing for those who appreciate the vibrant green scenery and don't mind occasional showers.
