The Little Yellow House Cozy Old Faroese wooden house.

10/10 Excellent
"First of all, I arrived at the wrong "yellow" house (which was probably my navigation app issue - I had the correct address) Anyway, host quickly advised me and the actual location was just up the street) House was very accommodating, did find the stairs very difficult (Steep) to climb (because I'm older) Great thing about this location is the ferry is just across the bay, so I can monitor the timing for its schedule."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Vagur?
The best area to stay in Vagur is in the main town centre, particularly around Vágsfjørður (Vagur Fjord).

This area is the heart of Vagur, offering easy access to most amenities and local points of interest. You'll find the main street, which isn't named, runs along the fjord, connecting shops, cafes, and the local church. The harbour is also a central feature, often bustling with fishing boats.

For solo travellers or couples, staying in the town centre is ideal. It provides a convenient base for exploring on foot, with local eateries and the opportunity to experience the town's daily rhythm. You'll be close to the local football pitch and the community house, which often hosts events.

For those looking for a quieter experience, there are a few guesthouses slightly outside the immediate centre but still within a short walk.
When is the best time to go to Vagur?
The best time to visit Vagur, and the Faroe Islands in general, is during the summer months from June to August.

During this period, you'll find the most favourable weather conditions, with milder temperatures and longer daylight hours, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the island. Many local attractions and services, such as boat tours to the Hvannhagi nature preserve or the guided walks around the town, are fully operational during these months.

Couples looking for a scenic and active holiday will appreciate the summer. The extended daylight allows for more time to hike the trails around Lake Vatnið or enjoy a picnic by the fjord. The weather is generally more settled, which is important for enjoying the outdoor activities the Faroe Islands are known for.

For those interested in local culture and events, late July often sees local festivals and rowing competitions in Vagur, which add a unique dimension to your trip.
