"Excellent stay, dated / needed maintenance. "
Excellent staff, however the room I was in was a bit dated and need of maintenance. My better half reported that her massage in the spa was "absolutely incredible". I did stay in one of their smaller rooms. Would I repeat? Probably not, but overall I did enjoy my stay.

"Couldn't ask for more"
I will definitely be staying here again next time I'm in NYC. Perfect location, right next to new subway which makes it very convenient. Excellent staff- shoutout to John at the desk who was very helpful. Everything we asked for was delivered. Very happy with the service. Only critique is that the rooms need a few renovations. Other than that we felt at home and I'd highly recommend this hotel/apartment.

"Clean and comfortable hotel Upper Eastside"
My sister and I stayed here six days and entertained her 10 year old grandson who was on school break. We enjoyed exploring the area, finding affordable and delicious restaurant food a few blocks away(3 Guys Restaurant) and slept well in our hotel room. The Staff was responsive to our 10 year old's need for a pencil to do his homework, and several other requests. The second floor Mezzanine is spacious and made our card games easy to enjoy. Also enjoyed the Penthouse view on the roof to happily take advantage of the warmer than normal February weather. We will return to Hotel Wales.

This hotel is great location for the Medical Center and has a good price. But they dont have free wifi, the rooms are not that clean, the ac room was hot and wouldn't work properly. But the hotel staff try their best to accommodate their guests. But you have to complain a bit about everything.

"Good value for Manhattan"
I booked this apartment because it could accommodate my daughter and her family and myself. Positives: Clean, comfortable, manager friendly. Secure. Despite another review, I found the sleeper sofa comfortable (at least for a sleeper sofa). The master bed was well appointed. Full kitchen is convenient and simple breakfast items included. Easy subway access. Negatives: Housekeeping didn't show up so ran out of coffee. Control of shower temperature an adventure. TV is on an antenna, so I lost signal for the entire second half of a football game I was watching. Typical big city noise all night with a party outside most of Saturday night. No parking, so had to park on street. Not many restaurants nearby, none of note. Several fast food places including Dunkin' Donuts. Bottom line: Not a 5 star hotel, but if you want to stay in Manhattan without spending a fortune, this is a good value.

"Affordable place near the city and trains. "
Loved the locations and people in the neighborhood. It was also great being by a main station to get to downtown. Had some great cheap shopping in the area as well. Would stay again if on a budget.

Pocket Guide: New York Upper East Side Independent Hotels

Of all the superlatives used to describe the Upper East Side, one word is apt: richest. Some of the city’s wealthiest residents live in the high rises that line Fifth Avenue. Be prepared to spend an entire day at the Museum of Metropolitan Art. Both a physical and art-world behemoth, the Met is home to several masterworks, from an intact ancient Nubian temple to post-modern color studies.
