Room clean but quite small and very hot. Fans provided. Food was okay - but definitely heated up. Breakfast very average. Okay for overnight stay.

The hotel is located in a quiet village. Inside it has many nice period features. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The bar area is relaxed and food is well prepared and offers good options. Food and wine were reasonably priced. Rooms are well equiped and of a good size.

Excellent hotel and staff

Hotel was in a good location, easy off road parking, clean comfortable room, great staff. Full english breakfast was freshly cooked with lots of healthy options available.

We arrived after the kitchen had closed but they were happy to sort something out for us - much appreciated , accommodation was fine - remember this is a very old building !

Second time visit. .

Nice pub hotel. Rooms clean and comfortable. Lunches were okay. Breakfast was plentiful but overdone eggs and under done sausages no big deal as they quickly supplied freshly cooked eggs. We enjoyed it over-all and will probably stay again next year.

Nice large room and bathroom Large wardrobe Room quite dark and lights not very bright Bed good though pillows too hard Light in entrance to Coach House on too long as light comes under the room door Shower good though doesn't drain well Only had the continental breakfast which was great value with plenty of choice

Family Xmas gathering

We booked The Chequers Inn as were meeting up with family over Xmas. Between us all we booked 7 rooms. We were late checking in as had travelled down & were meeting family elsewhere first. Despite the lateness there were no issues & we checked in quickly. Very happy with my room, clean, attractive & comfortable. We had drinks in one of the lounge rooms and service was speedy & friendly. Breakfast was good. Would happily return aa was a lovely place.

One night stay over

I have stayed here a few times now and on this occasion I stayed in room 6. It was incredibly hot, even with the heating off and window open and to add to that with the window open the kitchen fans outside would come on, along with the odd employee having a break outside and chatting and this was at around 10pm, so could be disruptive from a noise point of view. However, the place is very clean, comfy beds, food is excellent, as is the service. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Easy parking on site and you feel secure at the location.

Terrible night at unfamous hotel.

The hotel looked respectfull and had good size car park at rear. We had room in coach house ,which is on back ,by the car park. Our problem was squeaky and noisy flors above us. People from upstairs room came back to room.at1.30 am and woke us up. We had very poor night sleep .We could hear everything ,every step they made,etc. I think there is not any sound isolation at all ,especially on ceiling. We joked that hotel manager should spend night in coach house Nr16 with people above head. Then may be problems could be sorted. I would not advice to stay in coach house, unless you are absolutely desperate. At least not in downstairs rooms. Arturs Groza .

The exterior was tired and required attention. Areas were overgrown with shrubs..broken outside table with tape around to prevent being sat on, however it looked dreadful. In the dining area the table was very sticky. The staff though were very attentive and polite so we thank you for that.

Great stay. Comfortable and clean room although limited places to put clothes and security lock on the door felt very flimsy. Great bed. Bathroom quite old and certainly not as modern as the pictures seem to show. Otherwise, plenty of charm and character. Quiet area and great pub. Management staff friendly. Some of the bar staff not so friendly (not all) and one found to be quite rude in fact (blonde girl). Also a drunk guy in the pub who was disturbing everyone and should have been kicked out.
