"The gentleman who checked me in was really pleasant and helpful. I was only staying one night but the room was clean and had everything necessary. Decent shower. "

"We loved it here, had a a good couple of nights with friends. Beautiful apartment, amazing mattresses and pillows, very quiet environment. The pool wasn’t open and some work was happening but you can tell it’s going to look amazing once they put it all together and summer prep work is expected at this time of year. Kara was fab and we met a super helpful housekeeper who is doing a degree who was a literal walking tourist information centre. Great atmosphere all round ."

"The Hotel staff were very friendly on arrival, Danny made us very welcome. The room was clean, very cosy and well equipped. We enjoyed our continental breakfast with lots of choice. We also booked a meal at the Basca Indian restaurant next door on recommendation and the food was delicious! The hotel is situated right in the middle of Colchester so the shops were in easy walking distance, as was the castle and art galleries. We really enjoyed our short stay and will be back for another visit in the future!"
"I turned up early, and the friendly receptionist, chatted with me for ages. The room was sootless and when I checked in they had put a heater on to ensure the room wad warm. I will definitely return. "

"We had a very friendly welcome and after that the staff were always smiling and helpful. The room was lovely, looking out onto the courtyard, and clean. The radiator in the bathroom wasn't working (we were offered a different room but declined as we'd already unpacked) and handrails in the bath would have been helpful but we managed. They are clearly gearing up for Christmas and the tree in reception was beautifully decorated. The hotel itself is 14th-century, quirky and full of character and history, just as we like it, so we had a very happy stay and plan to return one day."
