About this property

Casita Cerquita: one minute walk to the U of A

  • Located in the historic Feldman`s neighborhood, we`re a few steps away from the University of Arizona and a short distance to downtown. Casita Cerquita is a 1925 Craftsman 1BR duplex, and is more like a hotel suite compared to most vacation rentals. This is a pet friendly property -- please see the house rules.

A Note For Our Guests: We want to let you know that our cleaning team is strictly following all of AirBnb’s guidance for cleaning and sanitizing.

Casita Cerquita is furnished in a `mad-men` mid-century style, but there are still all of the historic details, from the Craftsman style built-ins in the living room to the original hardwood floors. It also features a large fenced in yard.

The Casita is literally just steps away and minutes to the University of Arizona’s Eller Business School, Centennial Hall and the Center for Creative Photography.

There are many transportation options nearby including the streetcar, the city bus, the University’s Cat Tran service for getting around campus, and the new Tugo Bike Sharing program. All of which makes using a rental car optional for most guests. There’s even a convenience market just steps away that has basic staples, like milk, eggs and butter plus beverages, snacks and pastries.

It`s also a short stroll to Main Gate Square, which is the shopping district for the University. There are both casual and high-end dining options available there, as well as numerous fun shops and boutiques.

4th Avenue and Downtown Tucson, two other popular nearby destinations, are quickly accessible by streetcar or public transportation, or even walking if you want to wander through the nearby historic neighborhoods.

Guests will have use of the Casita`s front porch, the living space itself (living room, kitchen/dining, bedroom), and a private backyard throughout their stay.

Host Edward Cruz is at the property from time to time, so you may run into him with his dogs during your stay. And someone will always be available by phone or in person to help with any questions or needs you might have during your stay.

If you haven’t been to Tucson lately, you’re in for an incredible surprise. The streets are overflowing with lively music, art, food and a uniquely Tucson, Southwestern vibe permeates the air. Here’s great news: there are plenty of choices when you’re looking to enjoy some great culture and cuisine nearby.

University-area spots like Pasco, Frog and Firkin, Boca and Wilko are a quick 5-minute walk away, and there are even more options when you jump on the streetcar, including Agustin Kitchen on the west end of the line, Ermanos, the Coronet and several others on Fourth Avenue.

Want to check out the heart of the action downtown? It`s really close, just a 5 minute streetcar ride. There`s the Americana done perfectly with a side of ice cream at HUB or a world of influences smashed with the taste of the Southwest from James Beard-award winner Janos Wilder at Downtown Kitchen + Cocktails? If you’re looking for Mexican food with flavors that will make you forget about every sad enchilada you’ve ever eaten, you can head to El Charro, Elvira’s, Cafe Poca Cosa or Penca.

You can connect all of these cool Tucson districts with the Modern Streetcar that runs just two blocks from the Casita.

As an historic property, there are a couple of modern amenities that aren`t available at the Casita... First, in the kitchen, there is no dishwasher. Also, there is no washer/dryer in the unit. A half mile away on Sixth Street near Park is Cool Cat Laundry that has self-service laundry. Campbell Coin Laundry at Campbell and Ft. Lowell has a drop off fold and wash service. In the closet you’ll find a laundry bag on wheels, and in the pantry there’s laundry detergent, non-chlorine bleach and dryer sheets. If during your stay, you have a need for fresh linens, please let us know.

There is an additional $25 cleaning fee for both pets and long-term stays. If you are bringing a pet, please notify us in advance.

The Casita is located close to a busy intersection so there may be some street noise, especially on weekends.
Pets must be pre-approved and follow house rules. Pets may be subject to an additional cleaning and security fee. Please tell us about your pets when you book so we can make their stay with us safe.

This vacation rental is by far the best I have ever experienced. This historic home has been beautifully remodeled while still preserving its original charm, including amazing woodwork and original hardwood floors. It’s filled with natural light, which gives the entire space a bright, joyful feeling. The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped with high-quality items, and every detail you could possibly need for cooking has been thoughtfully anticipated—even including a rice maker and a blender. There are so many small, considerate touches throughout that made the stay feel effortless and elevated. There is a very spacious front porch that’s perfect for relaxing and people-watching, and an enormous backyard with a high fence—ideal for larger dogs like a German Shepherd. Doggy bowls were even provided, which was such a thoughtful detail. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of the university area, with lots of students walking by, creating a lively but comfortable atmosphere. There’s also a taco place around the corner and a Circle K nearby, making it easy to grab a quick bite or essentials. Parking is also easy. We slept soundly every night without any disturbances, and the host was always prompt in replying to any questions. Overall, we truly felt at home—only better. Although it’s an apartment, the kitchen is very spacious with an enormous walk-in pantry, and with the addition of the well-maintained yard and covered front porch, the duplex feels like a real home.
