The Old Smithy is a deceptively spacious and very comfortable detached holiday property, sitting in the gorgeous hamlet of Penelewey on the outskirts of Feock, in a prestigious creek side location. The cottage is on the road to the King Harry ferry, linking Feock to the Roseland Peninsula. Visit St Mawes with Henry VII Castle overlooking Carrick Roads, the famous Fal River and Estuary, and Pendennis Castle which is on the Falmouth Peninsula. Falmouth, The National Maritime Museum, is just a short 15-minute drive with its busy port and harbour, bustling marinas, and is host to numerous prestigious sailing and yachting events. Foodies love Falmouth, as it is home to many famous fish restaurants, great bars and cafés dotted along the marina. Events Square has many alfresco dining areas and stages high profile events throughout the year.

Take one of the ferries or water taxis to visit St Mawes, Flushing or the picturesque Helford River. Go on a wildlife safari to watch dolphins, basking sharks, seals and an abundance of marine wildlife. The area is great for golfers, walkers, sailors, water sports enthusiasts, or those seeking a relaxing holiday, soaking up some of Cornwall’s best beaches, including the award-winning Gyllyngvase Beach at Falmouth.

The Old Smithy is perfectly located for exploring many hidden delights, including Loe Beach, ideal for kayaking, canoeing and sailing. The area boasts some of the UK’s best sub-tropical gardens, including Trelissick Gardens, which is just a mile down the road, or Trebah and Durgan, which are located close to the Helford River. The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are also within easy driving distance.

There is a quintessential English pub just a short stroll away, which serves excellent local food and ale. The nearby creek side village of Devoran also offers great pubs and restaurants. The famous cycle trail runs from Devoran on the south coast to Portreath on the north coast. Bike hire is available locally. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Shower downstairs mouldy and not very clean.

Shower downstairs mouldy and not very clean. I sprayed with bleach spray no scrubbing and it made a massive difference. Needs more attention to detail. Floor on main bathroom had hairs over it and back of toilet very dirty. Dirty table Needs outdoor table and chairs to be able to eat outside Overall cottage was lovely and had everything you needed. Wouldn't hesitate to come again but cleaning needs looking at Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Absolutely 5* We have stayed at the Old Smithy a few times now and it’s just amazing! House is just perfect and it’s like home to home. Location is brilliant and a 30second walk to the village pub which serves the most scrumptious food! Couldn’t recommend it enough. As my daughter says ‘it’s a little gem’

We loved our visit to the cottage.

We loved our visit to the cottage. One or two minor points, the fan in the downstairs bedroom didn’t turn off especially at night, the shower door didn’t close but apart from that it was very very good.
