My family enjoyed the proximity to skiing, sledding, shopping in Truckee and the hot tub was wonderful after our full days. This home was large and spacious and comfy!
Jennifer's home was great for our family trip over the holidays! The home itself had a great layout, was well stocked, and had incredible views. Communication with Jennifer was wonderful, and her instructions/guidance before heading to the home was perfect as well. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely book this home again when we visit!
We enjoyed a great ski weekend here. The house is perfect for 2 families with children. The house easily accommodates 8ppl with room to spare. We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, the hot tub, and of course the amazing views. If you’ve got beginner skiers Tahoe Donner Ski resort is perfect and just 5 min drive from here.
The owner was great with communicating with us and answered any questions we had super fast. I highly recommend!
Our family of 10 had a wonderful weeklong vacation at the Luxurious Mountain Chalet. The home was in a great location close to the Alder Creek clubhouse, the Tahoe Donner amenities, the Glacier Way hike (and many more!), and the new Raley's One. We enjoyed amazing views from both east and west, hanging out in the hot tub, walking the hills in the neighborhood, and watching the Olympics in the great room each night. It was a great fit for our family with plenty of sleeping and hanging out space. Great & responsive hosts. Would definitely return.
This is our second stay at Jennifer's mountain home. Overall it was great. The kitchen is very well stocked, which we appreciated. The house was warm when we arrived, cleaned well, and had lots of extra bath towels and towels for the hot tub as well plenty of paper towels/dish soap/toilet paper etc.The King bed in the upstairs master and the queen bed in the downstairs master were both very worn and could use replacing. The hot tub was a little disappointing- while it worked, we were not able to make any adjustments as the instructions say you can. It is also good to note that the only access to the hot tub is through the downstairs master bedroom unless you walk around from the garage. A little inconvenient if you have kids that go to bed early sleeping in that room.
Our family of seven stayed here for Christmas, and it couldn't have been more comfortable or homey! Three family members couldn't make it this time, but there would have been plenty of room for them if they had. The layout of two floors plus a small attic room feels roomy and cozy at the same time. The house is at the top of the mountain, and the great room has incredible unobstructed views toward the sunrise on one side and the sunset on the other, with lots of windows and natural light. We could be working in the kitchen, watching a movie, and putting together a puzzle all at the same time without anyone feeling crowded or left out of the fun. We are a family of cooks and bakers, and next time I would bring my own favorite tools and pans, but there is more than enough of everything for the typical cook, including most appliances and two ovens. The owners were very quick to respond when we had questions before out arrival, and in dealing with a few minor issues once we were there. Our family has rented many houses in the area over the years to enjoy the snow and the views, and we all agreed this was the best one yet!
The home has a great kitchen / family area...a great space to hang out and the bedrooms are large and accommodating. The hot tub is just a bonus feature.
House is great, no complaints and much praise. Quiet neighborhood, fantastic views east and west. I haven't been to a public beach in years, but Donner was crowded, crowded. Finding a parking place was a competitive sport. We rented a pontoon boat and swam off that. The amenities at the local rec center were better than the beach, big pool, lots of things for the kids. Overall, great house, great weekend.
Gorgeous 360° views from the Carson Range to the Sierra crest. Very convenient to Tahoe Donner amenities and close to larger ski resorts. The owners were very supportive through two Truckee-wide power outages and a historic snowfall. It's a great house but definitely bring a 4wd vehicle with winter tires or snow chains if you are traveling in winter time!
Everything was great and definitely upscale. I really appreciated the little touches like available glass food storage containers and Netflix/Roku built in. I felt more like a guest in a friend's home than a renter. Also, when we ran into trouble with a blackout and internet outage (totally no one's fault), Jennifer was incredibly responsive and helpful.
The house was perfect for our two families to stay (both with 2 kiddos 5 and 2). The only thing to know is that the backyard access and hot tub are through one of the downstairs bedrooms. Also, there is an EPIC loft that the kiddos loved. I can't wait to come back when our 2 year old boys are a bit older and can climb the ladder to the loft without supervision!Garage fit 2 SUV's tightly but kept them warm and dry through some snow!Jennifer was very responsive for everything and we can't wait to stay again someday.

Great, clean, Big house, with a great view!
Coming into the house, you just know it's well taken care of. The views out the front and back of the house are really amazing, especially those sunrises over the mountains! We had a bunch of snow while we were there and the plow service came and plowed the long driveway. The house stayed nice and cozy warm for us the whole time. There was plenty of space for our father/son group and we had a blast skiing at Tahoe Donner about 5 mins away. The group was super impressed coming from a not as nice place last year. We'll definitely be returning to this great house!
Our group of 10 (two families) enjoyed our stay here. The youngest, a 12 year old boy, LOVED the upstairs attic space! The space was very comfortable for all of us. The kitchen is well stocked and we loved having such a big dining table! We did not use the hot tub because the weather was quite warm. No air conditioning here in the mountains, but there were fans in the bedrooms that kept us cool. The views from the decks were also very nice!
We had a great time at this beautiful house! Everything was clean and well cared for, the views were amazing, with multiple decks from which to enjoy them. The kids really enjoyed the bonus attic room, and the big, fairly flat open space in the back, which was perfect for snow play. (We were there in spring, at the end of a mild winter, so I imagine it might be somewhat different to visit when there's a ton of snow.) Overall, this was just a wonderful property for our group of three families to enjoy a spring break getaway. Thank you!
Jennifer was so nice and made the check-in process very easy. The house is beautiful and sleeps 12 extremely comfortably. The view from the hot tub is so relaxing after a day of skiing. 10/10 would recommend and stay again!
Thank you so much! This is our second stay and we will be back. Wonderfully equipped, clean, comfortable. The owner is so nice and responsive. Thank you so much!!! Mary Haufler
Pros:
- Kitchen can handle 6 cooks without bumping into each other (we were there at Thanksgiving) also 2 ovens.
- Lots of pots, pans, sharp knives, serving bowls, plates, cups and everything you need for 12 persons.
- Lots of hot water and heat.
- Heated bathroom floors
- Plenty of bathrooms.
- Working Hot tub
- Attic for kids to play and sleep in (a real savior)
- The upstairs master bedroom has a huge separated closet that kids can sleep in if you bring sleeping mats. There is a port a crib as well.
- Downstairs master bedroom has great bunk beds and private bath.
- Once the door is closed, both these spaces are very self contained and separate from the general hubbub.
- Lots of beach towels for hot tub and beach
-Great washer, dryer, dishwasher.
- Better than expected. Photos don't do it justice.
- Owner very responsive
Cons-
- This is not really a con, just something to be prepared for.
After agreeing to the reservation and submitting my credit card, I was sent a second contract with the Tahoe Donner HOA protocols and regulations and a contract to sign with all the individual names and ages of the family. Not something you normally see. Just expect the extra step.
The views make this property stand out amazing. Had dinner outdoors every night and watched many amazing sunsets from the 3 decks. We stayed in July with three families (12 people in total - each family was 2 adults, two kids) and it worked out perfectly for us all. The layout works well too - there are enough bathrooms for one for each family, and pleantly of room indoors and out so that it felt spacious even with three families. Kitchen was well equiped and bathrooms are modern and very clean. The access is steep, so if coming in winter, you'll definintely need a 4x4/ all wheel drive. Quality of the house was absolutely wonderful - great linens, towels and furnishings. A real gem of a house in Tahoe - better than the pictures. We'd definintely come back.
This cabin was amazing and bigger than expected! So close to multiple lakes and hiking!!! Kinda bummed it didn’t have ac cause it got warm a couple nights but after talking to the delightful neighbors no one has ac so other than that we had just an amazing time and made some wonderful family memories!!!
Excellent location, amazing views, super responsive host
The whole experience was very positive. The property is well maintain and the location is almost perfect.
The communication with Jennifer was super clear, with timely responses and very detailed instructions.
Would love to come back in the near future.
Amazing clean property, beautiful views, hot tub with normal amount of chlorine, a lots of trails around, fast responding owners, good kitchen- we were very happy with our stay and definitely will choose this place again!
