About this property
2-bedroom lakefront condo overlooking Donner Lake and beach.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION on DONNER LAKE, TRUCKEE: enjoyment its pristine beauty all year round! Donner Lake is called the "Jewel of Tahoe" because it’s so clean and unspoiled. There's nothing but a little sand (or snow) between you and a beautiful lake. A serene setting with panoramic views. Enjoy your stay at our 1300 square foot cozy, somewhat rustic and comfortable condo on the lake. The outdoor photo's were all taken from our balcony which is off our living room, so what you see is what you get.
* COVID: Housekeeping is following the cleaning guidelines set by the state and county health dept’s.
* Returning Guest? Contact me because you're likely eligible for a discount. * HOLIDAYS: have minimum stay requirements. Scroll down * Proof of boat registration & insurance required.
Monday-Wednesday nights are our lowest rates. Thursday & Sundays a little more. Friday & Saturday are highest.
SUMMER: has lots of lake activities and we also have a seasonal dock (Memorial Day - Labor Day) and a slip for your boat or you can rent a watercraft at the marina right on the compound. They rent everything from jet skies to paddle boats to ski boats and party boats. More info on request.
* Occasionally a train goes by across the lake on the mountainside and it's great to see and hear as it charges along.
WINTER: we have four major ski resorts nearby, some smaller ones and some cross country locations too. Sugar Bowl is the closest major resort and was the first in CA in 1937, a 10 minute drive. Squaw Valley, North Star and Alpine Meadows, 15 - 20 minute drives. There's a smaller, easier, less expensive one close by across from Sugar Bowl called Donner Ski Ranch and the rustic/casual restaurant there also, open almost year round. Lots of sledding all around the area. More info upon request.
Lakeside Pub, just two blocks west of us is a great place to get a bite to eat year round and there's a seasonal, cute little ice cream parlor across the street from us and a small convenience store too.
NEARBY ACTIVITIES: Besides the lake, Casino's, 30 minute drive, Donner Memorial State Park and museum, 5 minutes, Reno Nevada, 40 minutes and Lake Tahoe, 30 minutes. Squaw Valley/Palisades , Sugar Bowl and Northstar all have activities during summer and winter months. A Kids zone in town with lots of activities. 6 miles of abandoned train tunnels with artwork on the walls from artists all over the world, minutes. Look for placard on your left for trail head. Hiking trails everywhere. Besides our private beach, 1/4 mile away is the lakes largest public beach and there's a tennis and pickle ball court there too. Organized rafting down the Truckee river or go it on your own. More details on request.
THE LAYOUT: We have two bedrooms with two and a half bathrooms and a loft. Both bedrooms have balconies off them also off the living room. Baths have a total of 3 sinks, 3 toilets, 1 double wide shower and 1 shower/tub combo. One bedroom has a Cal King "SIeep Number" mattress with fully adjustable firmness control, perfect for people with bad backs and for those who like their bed, "juuust right". The other bedroom/bunk-room has an extra long Single over a Queen. Also a third folded portable single bed. Our townhouse sleeps up to 8 adults, with two to the king and queen beds and one to each single bed.
KITCHEN is fully equipped with service for 8. Coffee maker (no grinder), toaster oven, 4 slice bagel and bread toaster, 2 "Crock Pots" (one large, one small), plenty of pots and pans, double oven, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge.
TO DO: too much to list but here's a start
HISTORIC OLD TOWN TRUCKEE: is a 10 minute drive along the lake where you'll find quaint little shops to browse through with wooden boardwalks and restaurants of the old west from "a time gone by". Visitors love visiting this part of town. Check out the great visitor center too at the train station with plenty of brochures and info on things to see and do in the entire North Shore Tahoe region from Train rides to whitewater rafting, to skydiving and much much more. The passenger train passes through daily for travelers getting on and off in Truckee then it continues on to Reno Nevada. One of our favorite large restaurants is "Bar of America" for food, drinks and live music on weekends. It's quite a happening place! There's also a wine bar across the street and many, many other places to dine.
MODERN TRUCKEE as we call it, is a 6 minute scenic drive along the lake. There you'll find large chain stores for grocery, pharmacy, hardware, firewood, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places and more. One of our favorite restaurants there is Taco Jalisco's for excellent, casual, authentic, fresh MEX. (located next to the 7-11 store)
During difficult times things can change rapidly for example during COVID. Because emergencies/changes happen, we highly recommend you purchase “travelers insurance” so you are covered. We have a cancelation policy that we adhere to and to protect yourself from unseen issues, you can purchase insurance coverage that will cover losses due to canceling. Refer to them for exact coverage. Referral insurance co. upon request.
WORK from our place via our strong WIFI with Zoom and conferencing capability.
FALL and SPRING is when it quiets down on the lake. You'll have it pretty much to yourself. It’s a wonderful time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet serenity on the lake. There's really no way to describe it, you just have to experience it for yourselves. It truly is a beautiful spot.
HOLIDAY Requirements: 3 night minimum on Labor Day, Thanks Giving, Presidents Day, MLK, Memorial Day and 4th of July requires a 4 night minimum. The higher holiday rates apply to all required nights.
So as not to waste nights and end up with a non bookable night, ie one lone night, guest agrees when asked, to either move their dates slightly or cancel their reservation from their end with no penalty to the host.
Rates may change at any time unless you've already secured a reservation.
Our rates include up to 4 people, additional people are $75/night plus city tax. Infants (children UNDER 2 years old) are no charge.
Maximum occupants is 8. The minimum age of the responsible party must be at least 28 years of age for men and 26 for women. Early arrival and late departures may be available for an additional 50/hour fee if housekeeping can arrange their schedule to accommodate you. Plz make those requests early for your best chance of success. Gov't issued photo ID required.
HANDICAPPED: Unfortunately, our condo is probably not accessible to lower extremity handicapped people because our entrance is up a flight of stairs to the second floor and no elevator and once inside, the bedrooms are up another staircase.
Our condo is somewhat "rustic" and we like it because it's different than our house in suburbia. We truly hope you will enjoy yourselves by making yourself at home in our cozy, comfortable and somewhat rustic lakefront condo.

The place was beautiful and had wonderful views. Kitchen has everything you would need and communication with the host was really smooth. I highly recommend!
A paddle boarders paradise! Loved the view from the deck! There is so much within walking distance - ice cream shop, marina to rent a boat, a private beach!
Excellent property with a front row view of the lake and the Donner Triathlon this past weekend which was super fun. Very convenient to the marina as well, jus steps away so renting paddleboards and a boat for wake surfing was easy. Highly recommend !
Donner is perhaps a somewhat overlooked gem in the Sierras lingering in the shadow of its big brother, Lake Tahoe. It's great and this place is perfectly situated. We loved our stay.
Had the best week, It felt like you had your own private lake. There was access to everything you needed from paddleboards to ice cream shops. Very comfortable and well equipped condo. The host was available for any questions. Can't wait to come back.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this charming, cozy condo for a short getaway. The condo was equipped with everything we needed and much more. It was beautifully decorated, the bed was really comfortable and the view from the large front windows was amazing. The communication with the owner Tor was exceptional, he truly cares about his guests and meeting their needs. He is readily available to answer any questions. We are looking forward to many future vacations in this charming condo. Thank you Tor!
Seamless stay with an excellent host. Condo was just what we needed for our two couple group. Enjoyed the comfortable seating and cozy beds.. Kitchen very well stocked. Used the wood burning stove once but was quite warm with the wall heaters.
Family really enjoyed our stay here. Charming rustic mountain spot with great Lake Views. We made good use of wood burning stove for cozy nights in a blizzard. Comfy beds. Easy access. We’d stay there again.
We booked a quick getaway to Donner Lake for some paddle boarding, biking, and relaxing. The location was perfect! Loved the private beach access!! The house was also a great fit for our family of 4.
We all loved this condo. It was perfect for a getaway with my daughter in laws❤️. The lake view is amazing as is the mountains surrounding the lake. Great spot away from the town itself but close enough if you need to get supplies or a bite to eat.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The convenience can’t be beat - lakefront, private beach and swimming area, a boat slip, trailer parking, etc. For our two families (with two toddlers in tow), that was most important to us and it delivered. Tor was very communicative and gave clear instructions to guide our stay.
We needed a place that was close to Truckee but comfortable when we were just hanging out and we found it! Kitchen is well stocked. Parking is easy, and Tor was always just a text or a phone call away if we needed him.
We stayed at this two bedroom lakefront condo this weekend. There was plenty of room for my husband & I and our teenage daughters. We enjoyed the view of the lake and skied. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to cook & the owner is very communicative. He was super friendly and easy to get ahold of when we needed help with an appliance. We will be back for sure!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The location can’t be beat. Everything you could ever need is within 10 minutes, whether the Sugar Bowl resort or the nearby town. The place is rustic but that’s part of its charm! Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well stocked, and the view of Donner Lake is unreal. Tor is a great host, who was great about keeping in touch but not overbearing at all. We hope to have a chance to stay here again!
