"We went to the Royal Sunset with 6 of our Tongan young friends who help us at a humanitarian clinic we work in. We are leaving Tonga and wanted to thank them for all they do. We decided to spend the night at the Royal Sunset. The rooms were filthy. The linens were stained and the rooms were unbearably hot. The pool water was brown. "The staff, including the restaurant are excellent. I can't say enough of the warm hospitality that was offered me throughout my 2 week stay. The hotel is well situated to lively nightime food options, walking along the waterfront, and close to town. The hotel is a little tired, but it also had its charm. Do yourself a favour and book one of the rooms facing the water - evenings on the patio taking in the ambiance are well worth the few extra $$ (versus a room with no balcony). Will definately go back to the Emerald. Thanks to the staff - wonderful!"
