The best area to stay in Timon is near the Ponte da Amizade (Friendship Bridge) which connects Timon to Teresina, Piauí.

This area is the most developed part of Timon, offering the easiest access to amenities and the neighbouring city. You'll find a selection of hotels, restaurants, and shops along Avenida Presidente Médici, which runs parallel to the Parnaíba River. This location is particularly convenient for those who need to frequently cross into Teresina for business or tourism.

For business travellers, staying near the Ponte da Amizade is ideal due to its direct link to Teresina's commercial centres. Hotels in this vicinity often cater to professionals, providing facilities like meeting rooms and good internet access. The short commute across the bridge minimises travel time, making it a practical base for work-related activities.

Couples or solo travellers looking for convenience will also appreciate this location. It provides a straightforward starting point for exploring both Timon and Teresina, with various dining options within easy reach.

The best time to go to Timon, Maranhão, is typically during the dry season, which runs from June to December.

During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region and enjoying outdoor activities comfortably. The average temperatures are warm but generally pleasant.

For travellers looking to enjoy river activities along the Parnaíba River, like boat trips or fishing, the dry season offers the most consistent conditions with lower water levels and clearer skies. It's also a good time for visiting nearby ecological parks without the interruption of heavy downpours.

If you're planning to combine your visit with trips to the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, the months just after the rainy season (June to August) are particularly good.
