Good place to stopover
The room was clean and reasonably comfortably, though possibly could use a bit of modernizing.
It was quite a cool night, especially for my partner and she liked the heating!
Reception was friendly
We stayed here for five nights and during that timebecamevery friendly with the owner and her daughter. The room had everything we needed and although we were a little disappointed not to be able to use the BBQ which was out of action, the owner !ent us alternative equipment and we managed fine.
Only small problem was the rather steep driveway coming out onto a busy road but the convenience of being walking distance from restaurants and shops and the beach more than made up for it.
Property was run down and in poor shape. Checkin was with a lady, that I think was inconvenienced by our arrival.
The bathroom was poor, water pressure in the shower terrible and facilities need repair.
Advertised free wifi which only worked when outside the room, again an issue for the manager.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Tired, needs an upgrade, furniture old along with range. In need of decorating. Was clean and tidy.
The furniture was very dirty, worn, old and all mismatched. The bathroom had dusty cob webs hanging out of in the fan.The beds were ok comfort wise, but very old blankets and duvets. It was very noisy being so close to the road
I live in Wellington. We come to Timaru 2-3 times per year and always stay at Townhouse Motel. We love the friendliness of the proprietors, the location is perfect and we have all that we need. The motel is very clean and comfortable. Would recommend this motel to everyone
Pleasant staff at this motel, where I always stay while in town.
Motel is on a hill, so the lower-down units are the quietest- although on the main highway, I heard very little noise at night.
Nicely fitted-out room with plenty of space for suitcases and a large kitchen with the usual facilities. Bathroom quite OK, usual facilities there. Electric blankets and good room heater.
About 5 mins walk to the local indoor heated swimming pool, about 10-15 minutes walk to local Pak n Save supermarket, McDonalds, KFC, some restaurants, and about 10-15 mins to the town centre in the opposite direction.
Staff give vouchers for about 2GB wifi, usable over 4 devices, that was plenty for me.
I was happy with this motel, and will go back; it gave value for the price paid.
I always stay at this motel when in Timaru. Staff are friendly. The rooms are comfortable, The motel is close to town and family and the staff are very friendly. Recommend

Walking distance to shops restaurants nice spacious unit. Shower had broken floor bed very old and needs to be replaced. Comparative to sleeping on boards
We stopped overnight at this hotel. Considering that the price compared to others in the same street, we were expecting quite a bit more than we ended up with. The checkin was unfriendly, the heating had not been turned on in the room and was old and inadequate. The decore is very dated which is not such a big issue except that the couches looked too dirty to even sit on. In the morning there was no hot water - when I mentioned it on checkout in a polite way as feedback, The response was defensiveness and disbelief - no apologies or concern. It you can’t sleep with loud road noise then you won’t sleep at all as there is no sound proofing.
Clock ticking, heater very loud, kids couldn’t be on the same level as us which was not in the description upstairs & downstairs. Very dated & would expect something more modern for that price. One night was ok but wouldn’t rebook.

Bon pour le prix
Vieillot mais pour le prix il ne faut pas en demander plus
This is budget accommodation and getting somewhere to stay in Timaru can be difficult. It is value for money but very dated and little by way of additional comfort. No where to sit outside which is a problem for longer stays. No privacy unless one pulls drapes during the day and traffic noise is an issue.
Anyone of a moderate height would find the handbasin a challenge to work in and the kitchen lacks basic eqipment, such as a sharp knife.
WARNING: Dont stay here if you need sleep!
Although the rooms were large, the fixtures and fittings were threadbare.Main road noise and noisy neighbours were excessive. If your staying in summer the north facing units get really hot.
Reception was curt (felt like i may have been disturbing her TV watching)
Overpriced, well past its use by and it begs for a refurb.
