"I will start off and say that the staff are super lovely at this hotel, really friendly and approachable. I have visited in the past and always remembered that the staff were helpful. However, unfortunately me and my partner did not have a great stay this time round. Our room was super small, although we did have a slight window which made a difference. The bathroom had stains on the floor and the shower and toilet slightly flooded, potentially something wrong with the drains? Our bed was super firm and we have both woken up with sore backs due to it. It felt as if we were sleeping on a hard floor. Some loud customers were slamming doors in the early hours of the morning which also woke us up.
I booked this for my partners birthday and we had a really great time but sadly I am not too sure if we will return mainly due to how uncomfortable the bed was! Again, I want to highlight that the staff who work at this hotel are great and super friendly so such a shame about our stay. "
"I can't fault this hotel or the staff we met. We had a great night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. Lovely touches like a mini bar with complimentary soft drinks. It is in a central location, and apart from the fact it doesn't have a car park it is an ideal place to stay. A special shout out to Jenny at reception who went out of her way to be helpful."
"The room was mostly clean, just the edges of the carpets needed a bit extra but this seems to be quite common in hotels. We was surprised at how big it was. It's a bit dated but was perfect for one night. The bathroom was a good size. Again needs a little tidying up in places but overall was good. Shower was very powerful.
Breakfast was great. All the usual choices, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc, then cheese, ham, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, bagels, mini doughnuts, tea, coffee, juices. Plenty of choice. I was very happy after reading mixed reviews.
The foyer has loads of sofas to sit at. After going to the theatre we sat and had a drink and chatted and it was very relaxing.
All the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the hotel is situated right opposite the hippodrome so is in a perfect position, also, for all the bars and restaurants in that area, next to the harbour. Was about a 10 minute walk to main shopping area.
For the money this was the perfect hotel for our theatre trip and I would definitely consider staying here again."
"On arrival were greeted by a friendly man on reception and check in was smooth.
We were in room 105.
The room was cleaned to a satisfactory level.
A couple of hairs were found on the pillow cases.
The bathroom was clean but the quality of the toilet roll was the worst I’ve ever experienced.
The only real issue we had with the room was the mattress.
It needs throwing away and replacing.
There was a huge dip in the middle of the mattress and as a heavily pregnant woman, I couldn’t get comfortable and had an awful nights sleep.
Breakfast was a very basic continental breakfast but it served its purpose and filled a hole!
I would return here, however I would make sure to inspect the mattress before bedtime in order to be able to speak to reception before it’s too late. And I would take my own toilet roll!"
"Hotel is in an excellent location. It is surrounded by restaurants and cafes and it is within an easy 5 min walk of the hippodrome theatre. A decent size secure carpark is across a small, quiet road from the hotel. The room was large and clean. The breakfast was good- plenty of choice and easy to find a table. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
It is a large hotel but only has 2 lifts which state they hold 8 but were full with 5 in. It was a very busy weekend as the Bristol half marathon was on the
Sunday but only one of the lifts were working so there were always long waits for the lift. We were on the 3rd floor and due to the hotel’s location could hear music and people until after midnight. The noise wasn’t particularly loud but I could see some guests having an issue with it. "
"We arrived and got put in a small room where the windows wouldn’t open and the camp bed for our daughter was broken, but after a disappointing start we were moved into a much nicer room with the staff being very lovely about it. The rest of the stay was wonderful, it’s a short stroll into Bath Centre, the spa whilst very busy and cramped at times was nicer when it was quieter, the breakfast room was quite special although the fruit selection could have been a bit broader the hot breakfast was delicious. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful, all in all we had a very nice stay and would definitely stay again."
"Enjoyed our overnight stay in the Celtic Manor and had time to recharge our batteries. The male member of staff at Reception was exceptional! (Sorry we didn't make a note of his name.) He was particularly welcoming, helpful and informative about all amenities available and booked all the little extras for us. The staff at 'The Grill' were also great, where we enjoyed a tasty meal in a relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the breakfast offered plenty of variety the following morning.
We opted to pay extra for a room with a balcony, however, although it was clean, comfortable and looked nice enough, on close inspection it needed a make-over and a lot of TLC. The balcony was shoddy and the door leading out to it didn't close properly so it was draughty. However, the worst experience for us during this visit was the pool and spa. Despite booking our 'slot', it was full to the brim. There were adults and children diving in to the pool even though there were lifeguards on duty and signs to discourage this. The steam room and jacuzzi / hot tubs were also jammed packed, and so were impossible to sample and enjoy. This aspect was disappointing and unacceptable."
