This central area of Tekenye is where you'll find the local amenities. Fő utca is the main thoroughfare, lined with traditional Hungarian houses and leading to the village's small, historic church. It's a quiet, green area, surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards, offering a genuinely rural experience.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find the village centre ideal. It provides a tranquil base for exploring the Zala countryside, with opportunities for gentle walks or cycling along the country lanes. The calm environment is great for unwinding and enjoying local hospitality.

For those interested in local culture and a relaxed pace, staying near the village centre allows easy access to any local eateries or community events.

The best time to go to Tekenye is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October).

During these months, the weather is pleasantly mild, with comfortable temperatures great for exploring the Zala countryside. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed experience when visiting local vineyards or enjoying outdoor activities. The natural landscape is particularly beautiful, whether it's the fresh greenery of spring or the rich colours of autumn.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, these periods offer ideal conditions for leisurely walks through the vineyards, enjoying al fresco dining, and visiting nearby thermal spas in a tranquil setting. The slightly cooler temperatures also make it comfortable for cycling along the quiet country lanes.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the milder weather, which is great for outdoor excursions without the intensity of summer heat. Many local farms and attractions are still fully operational, providing educational and engaging experiences for all ages.
