Very comfortable house

Wonderful host who were very flexible with our late check in. The place is really comfortable and clean and tidy with lots of amenities.

Alida and her husband welcomed us on first arrival and continued to make us welcome throughout our stay. There was a useful welcome pack and everything was as advertised. The shady verandah was wonderful complete with copious birds including cape sugarbirds and sunbirds visiting the feeders. The home made melk tart was delicious and very welcome. A lovely stay we highly recommend.

Personal touches....

Alida the owner is such a warm, welcoming and lovely person. From the welcome door sign upon our arrival and the little gifts which we found...they are all such a personal touch and appreciated. We found the accommodation itself to be large & spacious & felt very homely. Load shedding is a BIG problem in SA but thankfully we were not affected too much by it for our short stay, plus there is a portable gas ring to boil a kettle for that all important cup of tea! There are also a couple of emergency lights.... It is located in a residential area, that is nice and quiet...and within a fairly reasonable distance to walk to a couple of nearby bars and restaurants & we felt it was in a safe area to do so.

Home away from Home in Swellendam-Warm Welcome

Warm Welcome awaits you at Aalkies Dream Luxurious Self Catering. Our host and hostess met us, showed us around the property. Welcome us with cup of tea and some rusks- a SA dessert. Beautiful furnished 2 bedroom ( but can sleep 5) with shower with rainfall shower head and separate bathtub ( with lovely assortment of shower gel, shampoo and hand cream. There is a well stocked kitchen - stove plates, full fridge and freezer, microwave and access to braii. Dishes, utensils and pots and pans- we were able to prepare supper. Hostess has selection of spices and offers selection of teas and coffee for you to make as desire. There is a kitchen table and chairs or you can dine on the front porch. We enjoyed a glass of wine while sitting on the porch watching the birds gather at the feeders. Hostess enjoys gardening- nice flower display. Assortment of SA country magazine to read while enjoying cup of coffee on the porch. We appreciated the peace and quiet - tranquil. There is air conditioning but we enjoyed be able to have our window open and enjoy the fresh country air. Safe location. We walked from the town centre to the house one evening.My son appreciated the good WiFi connection. Plenty area to park your car- no charge for parking. Walk out front steps and view the mountains in the background- great view. Hosts made us feel very welcome. Assisted us with arranging bus travel. We would highly recommend - we will visit again. Supper & breakfast available for a fee.
