"If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to check into a 1950s fever dream, look no further. The location is a 10/10, but the hotel itself is a solid "Time Machine Broken."
Walking into the lobby felt less like a vacation and more like an estate sale. The air had that signature "Grandma’s Attic" musk, and the reception featured a glass cabinet of snacks that I’m fairly certain have been there since the Eisenhower administration. They’re also still trying to make "DVD Rentals" a paid thing. In 2026
Speaking of charges—bring a kidney if you’re bringing a dog. They "allow" pets, but its $$$
The walls in our one-bedroom were made of what I can only assume was high-quality tissue paper. I didn't just hear the people in the parking lot; I’m pretty sure I’m now legally a witness to their divorce proceedings.
Pro-tip: Don't be fooled by the photos. 90% of them are of the fancy, overpriced restaurant next door. Also, the "walk" to the beach is actually a vertical mountaineering expedition. We enjoyed the workout, but if you aren’t training for the Olympics, you might just want to wave at the ocean from the parking lot. Joking aside, if you like no frills whatsoever, reasonably clean, and decor from almost 70 years ago, this is for you. For me, the price was way too high for what this place was, and I wish I had known about Seabrook (5mins away) before I booked."
"Very easy booking process and clean property. The cottage is cozy and great for a couple or small family. Pack light if you don"t enjoy clutter, because there is not a ton of storage. Appreciated the cookware and basic spices, coffee condiments. While close to five other similar cottages it feels plenty private. We enjoyed the easy walk and our time at the beach!"
Family-Friendly, Two-Level Home w/Free WiFi, Gas Grill, Washer/Dryer, & Balcony
6/10 Okay
"Clean/nicely decorated. Description indicated a coffee maker! Keurig&Nespresso machines available w/starter kit: DECAF & Cookie/Cream pods! As most people, I brought filters/coffee. Purchased expensive K-Cups at local store in this remote town. I texted VRBO#’s w/minimal assistance. The specific coffee maker type s/b identified so renters are prepared. With 6 adults over 3 nights, purchasing K-cups was expensive/not environmentally friendly! Roku was dead-no battery replacements. After texting w/VRBO #’s again, they said delivery could occur in am or buy & get reimbursed. AAAs purchased & our son reprogrammed remote, which appeared to have not been used/updated in awhile. This was March Madness weekend-our family was about watching games. A remote in non-working order was not acceptable. Working with VRBO for reimbursement! I called & left a message w/ property manager: never a response-very disappointing!Window blind wand closest to king bed not working: would not change slats orientation. Slept w/blinds open all weekend & not dress/undress in front of window! The living room furniture is low-riding-had to use thigh/buttock muscles to get off the couch (cushions were 1’ off the floor/sagged in the middle). Our son slipped down the wet front steps to the driveway due to no skid strips-fortunately just got bruised! Our getaway was to celebrate a 65th bday with sons/grandson (does not happen often). Would recommend if above items resolved."
Breathtaking Beachfront Home on Two Acres of Private Forest
10/10 Excellent
"My family and I enjoyed our stay for the weekend. We were able to check out the beach and spend quality time together. We were blessed with some eagles perching in the trees in the yard overlooking the ocean. "
Cheerful coastal cottage w/hot tub - 2 min walk from the beach!
10/10 Excellent
"My husband and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the cottage. It was very clean, queen bed was very comfortable. We didn’t use the 2nd bedroom but it was very nicely decorated. We brought our 2 dogs and their own beds because they are not allowed on the furniture understandably. The kitchen is very well stocked. The fenced backyard was great, we enjoyed it the small window of time with no rain. We’d love to come back when the weather is nicer. But the fireplace kept in nice and cozy with comfortable furniture to relax on. "
