This property is so private that you could get lonesome, if you wish, and yet just 2 blocks from every tourist attraction or convenience that you could ever want or need. Snowshoeing, skiing, and hiking right out your front door, as well as swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing off the lower property, just a short walk from the suite. A photographers dream. Drift into an amazing relaxed state while sitting on the front deck listening to the surrounding water fountains and closeness to nature.
(Review by a recent guest: Property exceeds expectations has astonishing view from all windows on lake and mountains. We have used a lot of Airbnbs for our vacations but this property is absolutely outstanding from everything we were used before, very private just lake and beautiful mountains surround us, its a MUST SEE!
There are many, many golf courses right around us within 5 minutes. Beautifully and charmingly furnished with inviting elegance, this 1200 square foot, fun electric fireplaces with adjustable flames, in the dining room/ living room and one in the master bedroom, with a private stairway and entrance, is the entire lower level apartment offering two large bedrooms with queen-size beds; and large dining/living room combination with sofa bed and cable TV; private bathroom having 2 separate entrances – one being right off the master bedroom, with large shower, washer, drier and soaking sink,(we include individual containers of shampoo and conditioner, shower gel, bar soap, combs, mouthwash, and disposable toothbrushes and shower caps, shaving kits, sewing kits and toothpaste.) ; full kitchen with dishwasher, Keurig coffee machine, 12 complimentary French dark roast k-cups(decaf coffee k-cups available upon request, at no extra charge) , regular coffee maker & grinder, and quality cookware & dinnerware, blender, food processor and basic spices. Comfortable baseboard heat. Hair drier, mirrors, flat iron and table board and first aid kit are there for your use. The large front deck has a fire pit to sit around, enjoying the beauty around you. Bronzes adorn the landscape, from the large bronze Chinese Eagle from about 1860, to the bronze girl, by Jesse B Amar with the red rose, who greets the animals as they come from the path, as well as the cupid with a water fountain in the summer and the 3 headed bronze horse. The sunsets are spectacular almost every night, especially in the summer. We hope you enjoy your stay in our “little bit of heaven.” A grill on your deck, stash of just about every game for your enjoyment along with 2000, 1000, 500 and 300 piece jigsaw puzzles, with a folding card table and chairs to keep the dining and living room space free. We also send you and in depth list of area activities in every category which includes web sites, address and phone numbers, in case you have some extra time on your hand. This is the only private, separate living space we offer apart from our residence on the upper levels of our beautiful, large home, on 7 acres overlooking and adjacent to 100's of acres of The Vermont State Forests. To gain this privacy, the house is set down in. One flight of stairs bring you to the private entrance of this suite when parking in the lower parking lot. When parking on the upper parking lot, two flights of stairs bring you to the entrance. If you do not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, park in the upper parking lot in the Winter. When parking in the lower parking lot, it is limited to one vehicle. Parking for the lower unit is on the right side of the lot. We thank guests for taking their shoes or boots off upon entering the apartment. Take off your shoes and throw your cares away!!!! Located in the gentle town of Waterbury Center, in-between Waterbury and Stowe. Upon arrival to the upper parking lot you will be greeted by a full life antique marble statue, after Antonio Canova, of the 3 graces, Mythological figures of Euphrosyne, Aglaea and Thalia - Circa 1860. The property sits just above the Waterbury Center Day Use swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking area with the access just down the road with canoe and kayak rentals available. Or you can use our canoe and 2 kayaks going through the sweet, wooded path to the point. An added attraction during foliage season are boat tours just below on the Waterbury Reservoir. There is a nice sledding hill to the left of the house and next to the pond in the winter. And in the summer, you can swim off the point for a more private setting, just a short walk from the apartment. It is not unusual to see a bear, turkeys or deer on the lower property, with the ponds supplying drinking water to wildlife all year round. Very clean and very well stocked apartment on lower level of home. Nice to be able to snowshoe from the house to the abutting state park. Communication with the host was excellent. We enjoyed this beautiful and serene spot!
This host has everything covered! I don’t think anything is missing or forgotten down to the mortis and pestle and a cheese cutting board in the kitchen. The entire property is well stocked, not just the kitchen. The beds are comfortable as is the communal living space. The views from the patio are awesome, I would love to see it when the lake isn’t frozen! This property is centrally located to 4-5 ski resorts and the town of Waterbury has a lot to offer for restaurants and shops. Highly recommend for a quiet but very conveniently located retreat in Waterbury VT.
We stayed two nights as part of a larger US/Canada fall colors road trip. The location and accommodations were excellent - certainly one of the best. Our hostess was quite friendly and ensured our stay was comfortable and memorable. Thank you! We hiked up the nearby Stowe Pinnacle and also visited Montpelier. Overall a wonderful stay.
Do yourself a favor and just go! Amazing settling, great amenities (kayaking, canoeing, stationary bike, weights, games, etc). Great setting between Stowe and Waterbury. Just go!
We absolutely loved our stay here! Beautiful view, great location to local attractions and Barbara was the best hostess! She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we had all the information we needed to make the most out of our trip! Would absolutely recommend staying here!
This property is a perfect vacation spot! We visited in February shortly after a major snowstorm! We enjoyed snowshoeing near the state park and the expansive property. Although it feels very remote, it's actually right in-between Stowe and Waterbury so it's very easy to get to both towns. Our host, Barbara was so kind and helpful. We hope to stay here again.
The apartment was secluded while being close to the main road for ease of driving to nearby town. It was clean and well stocked with anything we needed. Barbara was in contact and wonderful to work with!
The view over the valley was spectacular! Access to the lake was a bit of a hike, but you have your own private waterfront. The house was full of lovely antiques and the owners upstairs were friendly and helpful. Close to good restaurants, bike trails, waterfallls, farmers market, Ben and Jerrys! One bathroom. We will come back!
My family had the best time staying at this home. Barbara was truly the kindest host I have ever encountered and so hospitable. The property is exactly what the pictures look like and the view was just stunning, the sunsets were spectacular! The apartment was spacious enough for our family of four, the kitchen had everything we needed, we enjoyed walking the paths on the property and kayaking on the Reservoir. The location was the best. We did so much, enjoying the local restaurants and shops, the Cider Mill was our favorite, and of course Ben and Jerry's and even a boat cruise on Lake Champlain and Church Street marketplace in Burlington, board games at night, it was truly the perfect vacation place!
We use VRBO a lot, and like a lot of properties we have chosen, the description doesn’t fully capture how lovely it is. The space is larger than described. One night our daughter who lives in the area stayed over. My husband, 19 year old son and 23 year old daughter all stayed comfortably and had plenty of room and adequate privacy. The private patio has a table, grill and an AMAZING view basically extending to living area to include the outdoors. Also, the location was great with a grocery store very close, and Waterbury was so close and had a good restaurant selection. In a 5 minute drive we had everything we needed, and 30 minutes to Burlington. I highly recommend this property.
Photos don’t do justice to the gorgeous view from the patio. Especially enjoyed the canoe on site for our use. Owner is eager to please her guests and provides far more equipment and supplies than any other place I’ve ever rented.
A view like a 19th Century Landscape Painting - Extraordinary
What a wonderful place! The view out the front door is magnificent, with verdant mountains and vast reservoir; pools and statuary. Barbara and Richard are wonderful, generous hosts who provided abundantly for our needs. The quality of all the essentials was superior - towels, bedding, kitchen materials, furnishings were all high end. A short walk down a charming woodsy path to the reservoir for swimming, boating (canoe or paddle board), makes it wonderful place for vacation. I could not be more enthusiastic in my endorsing this lovely home away from home.
Loved the peaceful views of our natural world. The privacy of the unit was wonderful, as well as access to kayaks and reservoir. Location is within 10 minute or less drive to all the Waterbury & Stowe tourist attractions. Burlington is about a 30 minute drive away. We hiked the Smugglers Notch area. We biked the Stowe rec path with its easy bike rentals. We ate at the new Von Trapp Family Brewery Restaurant, which was delicious (as well as the Idletime Restaurant, right on the bike path). The apartment gave us a quiet place with spectacular sunsets in the evenings. The many antiques and statuary in and outside the apartment wake your curiousity and art appreciation. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen and bathroom, beds and super soft sheets are comfortable. Owners are very helpful and inviting. Highly recommend, it is a very nice and beautiful place to BE.
This is a delightful getaway. There aren't many properties on this part of Waterbury Reservoir; this one is absolutely unique. It is a walk-out basement unit that has been meticulously finished to be bright, open, and comfortable. The lake view is wonderful and the property grounds are immaculate. The owners live upstairs. Barbara seems to manage the rental. And she takes it very, very seriously.Everything you could possibly want is provided. Seriously. That thing you think you have to bring because there won't be one? It's there. My spouse is a coffee aficionado and brought her own milk frother. Unnecessarily, it turns out!Everything you could possibly want to know is meticulously documented. Now, when you see that, it can raise a couple of concerns.First, is this person going to pop up every twenty minutes to micromanage our stay? Nope. Barbara welcomed us and texted us a couple of times during our week-long stay to make sure things were going well. She has a good sense of humor and was very easy to deal with.Second, is this going to be one of those where the stay is overshadowed by a list of weird rules and bizarre restrictions? Nope. There are a couple of sensible, reasonable things that responsible adults do anyway. This is the sort of place that I kind of want to tell you it's terrible so that it'll be available when we want to go back. Our little secret! But I cannot muster such evil. Besides, one look at the other reviews and no one would believe it.

this was a wonderful stay with a very beautiful view from the home. Barbara was a kind and thoughtful host and we would definitely visit again!!
This beautifully decorated 2 bedroom unit is very well-equipped and conveniently located to take advantage of both skiing and other local attractions. Of course, with the spectacular setting you might decide to just stay put and soak in all the natural beauty. The kitchen has everything you might need (pots, immersion blender, waffle iron, etc.,) for cooking meals and, if you are lucky enough to have snow, definitely take advantage of the provided snow shoeing equipment. The host, Barbara, is readily available, making check in/out easy and provides abundant information about attractions in the area. Highly recommend.
We had a great 5 days in an apartment with a great view of the mountains. The hosts are very friendly and attentive. Plus the art surrounding you inside and even outside the place! Quite an experience!
