Located in the Virgin Islands National Park on Bordeaux Mountain, St. John’s highest peak, sits Esprit, a charming Island retreat. Commanding an unbelievable view of Coral Bay and the British Virgin Islands, this Villa also enjoys refreshing year-round breezes. Esprit is centrally located, an easy drive down to Cruz or Coral Bay and just 10 minutes from the magical beaches of the North Shore.

The villa itself, recently renovated from top-to-bottom, inside and out, offers a perfect balance of comfort, style and privacy. The owner’s personal artistic touches abound throughout this bright and colorful home that is cooled by trade winds all year long. The great room is complete with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living and dining spaces, and a home entertainment center. Several tiers of balconies overlook the valley below, and the sunny lower deck boasts a saltwater pool and outdoor shower. The three bedrooms can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people. You’ll also find the interior staircase leading to two bedroom suites is perfect for families with younger children. And no need to worry about island power outages —the villa’s whole-house generator operates everything in the house (lights, appliances, air conditioning, TV and internet) any time the power goes out.

This was our 1st trip to St. John & we were worried about the location, but it was absolutely perfect! Took less than 15-20 mins to get to most Bays & Cays! The home itself was a gem! From the indoor/outdoor bathrooms to views from every level, you're not going to want to leave!! Did I mention the sunrises and the amazing breezes?? Would definitely lease again!!

Morning coffee watching the sun rise with a breathtaking view is the perfect way to start each day. Home is equipped with everything you need. We were 4 adults and 3 kids. It was the perfect size. We loved the pool and appreciated the beach towels and chairs. Having a host greet us qt our car rental was a gift and made the day so smooth to follow her over! Thank you, we can't wait to come back!!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view from Villa Esprit is astounding. We just couldn't get enough! We loved being on Bordeaux Mountain. While the drive is extremely steep and winding, my husband enjoyed doing the driving once he got comfortable. The Catered To staff were very helpful, meeting us ahead of time in Cruz Bay, then driving to the villa and walking us through. The villa itself, which sold recently, needs some love, especially the exterior of the house and the living room furniture. The third, garden level bedroom with it's own entrance and bath, had dead ants everywhere and smelled too bad to use. We didn't need it, but some guests may find this problematic. There was a construction project going on right next door which started promptly at 7:00am. This was fine for us, but again, could be troublesome for other renters. Catered To did not mention this ahead, which would have been nice. In general, we adored our stay and would go back in the future.

My family of 4 enjoyed our stay at Espirit and St. John. The home is in a beautiful location that is more peaceful than staying in Cruz Bay. On the flip side, it is a 25 minute drive to town on winding, hilly roads so keep that in mind. The house itself was clean and we loved the outdoor and garden showers. With some updating and new furnishings it would be a 5+! The view more than accommodates for that though!

Reviewer Comments: our family of 4 stayed at Esprit and had a wonderful week. its a steep climb to get to but was worth it.Really enjoyed staying close to Coral bay.Our daily routine was to go to the pool in the morning and hit the beaches after lunch til abot 5 or 6pm, than came home to cook dinner and relax outside.Extra bonus was a lovely orange cat that came to visit us everyday.

Such a beautiful view. If we weren’t at the beach, we were longing on the balcony or in an Adirondack by the pool. The breeze keeps the bugs at bay, which was a pleasant surprise. Only watch-out - there is a crew working on a house next door and they start banging by 7am. We were always up by then, but others may mind more than us.

There is a pretty big temperature difference between the villa location and when you get to the beach or Cruz Bay. Make sure to have a long sleeve shirt for sitting out on the deck in the evenings. It has been mentioned in previous reviews about the furniture being "tired", I agree with that. Nothing awful but, an upgrade in furnishings would be welcome. Overall though, it is a nice place.

Esprit was a great location for visiting all the beauty that is St. John. The villa was clean and had almost everything we needed. The gardens around it are beautiful and the view is breathtaking, especially in the early morning. The villa sits at nearly the top of Bordeaux Mountain so it is quite windy in the late afternoons and evenings. The villa itself could use some updating. The couches and chair cushions were stained, the pool light didn't work, cupboards are old and worn. The top deck outdoor furniture is quite old and uncomfortable. But these are mostly cosmetic things. The table by the pool was falling apart and Catered To had a replacement there within a day. Their service was outstanding.

The view and area of Esprit is great. In general everything was fine. Bed was wonderful; bath good and super towels; bedroom a/c very good; pool lovely; WiFi upstairs very good as was TV; plenty of beach chairs and towels; good supply of dishes and utensils. Here are some of the problems: Esprit is very tired. Kitchen gas stove top has one burner that lights automatically, one doesn't work at all, the other two require a hand lighter.Sink is chipped and area around it (grout etc.) needs re-do. Living room furniture old, cushions dirty from age/use and sunk in. Most of outdoor furniture is wooden and old; splintery; needs cushions. In master bath shower the window/screen is held in but lots of duct-tape; ceiling fan blades rusting. WiFi doesn't reach downstairs. Needs a extender. As I said, we had a very good time. Catered To is the best. They respond, they answer questions, they are helpful. But Esprit needs a real good spruce up, refresh. I'd recommend Esprit...but with reservations. Not a 4-5 star villa. I'd say 3+
