The hotel was very good all round. Room, bar area and breakfast all high standard. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Limited parking meant we had to park at the sister hotel at the top of the hill but not too much of an inconvenience. The major downside not really within control of the hotel is the ongoing work around the harbour which had a significant visual impact from our sea view room and also meant there was limited access to the harbour area.

Great pub hotel right by the harbour and coast path. Some of the rooms are a bit small but they are well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.

The room was clean in excellent condition with a spacious bathroom. There was a mini bar with some free drinks and some payable. We had a sea view and it was very quiet. The restaurant was amazing food and the free breakfast was also amazing. Would love to come back at some point. Would re ommend this for a trip to the Eden Project and we even went out on a fast boat ride with Seafari and had a trip to the Austell Brewery.

Can't beat this location

Fantastic location, parking just up the street (my low van doesn't like the very cobbled car park). Food great, staff great. Lots of cool extras like dryrobe and beach bag in room.

Excellant place to stop

This has just been refurbished, to an excellant standard. The food is excellant too, this is how hotels should be. The rooms have all been refurbished to a very high standard, & very stylish. Worth noting that I got upgraded to a suite, pity I wasn’t staying longer

What an absolute gem! It’s a shame we only stayed for one night. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and had everything you could possibly need and more, shower was superb. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice for breakfast, which was delicious. If we ever come back to Charlestown I wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else but Pier House. Thank you for making us feel like home.

Excellent choice

Stayed at this hotel on many occasions since 2004. Always a friendly welcome, in a clean and inviting atmosphere. Staff are so helpful & try their best to accommodate your wishes. Food excellent & choice of ales. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night, (this time), but had an amazing stay! Staff so helpful & couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was perfect, after a lovely nights sleep in a huge comfortable bed! Fabulous well appointed sea view room with both bath and shower in bathroom. (Room No.12). Highly recommended this Hotel!

The Pier House Hotel is located in an excellent and scenic position. The property is clean and well-maintained. Staff were friendly and very helpful. There is a good range of options for breakfast and we also enjoyed a delicious meal one evening. The hotel is also close to a bus stop from which you can get to various sites if you don’t want to drive (good if you want to do the St Austell Brewery tour!). Charlestown is a great location for a long weekend and a stay at the Pier House Hotel makes it all the more special.

The hotel was beautiful and some lovely extras left in the room. My only problem was there was no one on reception when l arrived and no one to confirm where l could park. But otherwise it was superb.

The place is nice and friendly and food was good, but my room was depressingly small and I stayed in another pub/hotel in the west country 4 weeks ago where the room was 5 times larger and cost less and it was in the peak period, so not value for money

We liked the staff and there lovely attitude towards people, the food was no more than average, we liked the little extras that were in the rooms like the swim jackets and shopping bag we did not like the small size of the room and the excessive non stop noise that could be heard from our room number 23, we would never stay in that room again

A pub/restaurant/hotel in the modern style of Fullers and Young's pubs in London. My bedroom (4) was small but very nicely decorated. As billed the bed was pushed against a wall so had I not been alone one of us would have been climbing over the other to get up to pee. There was the opportunity however to nose to tail. Lots of comfort but more than one occupying you wouldn't want to stay for more than a few nights. Brilliant overall.

Very good indeed but was cold during the night and there were no blankets in the room. Ask beforehand! Also no toiletries in bathroom except fixed soap/shampoo dispenser.

Hotel gorgeous but ruined by noisy doors

Easy check in and friendly staff. Parking a pain as you have to park in their sister company at the top of the road which fills up quickly. Room lovely decor however very small especially when you have luggage in there. Room 18 extremely noisy room kept awake by constant banging of doors in corridor which made our door rattle. Very hot room had window but view onto roof not nice. Bed was comfy, great shower. No instant coffee only a machine to try and work first thing in the morning after reading instructions. Breakfast was amazing and lots of it. Staff lovely. Had the most delicious fish and chips in the evening. Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous place

A mixed bag here - newly refurbished after a fire and only been open a few weeks. The rooms are nice enough with some lovely touches (the Pier House waterproof jacket an excellent idea) and extremely comfortable beds with wonderful crisp linen. Hotel services need some improvement - too few staff when arrived due to rota mixup so had to wait ages to be checked in (not great after a 4.5 hour drive) - the hanging rail in the bedroom is only accessible for individuals over 6ft tall (seriously!) and there were several light bulbs missing - even after a 5-day stay - not rocket science to sort those surely??!! Oh - and not much storage space. On the plus side the food and service and all of the team in the restaurant were excellent - great choice and very very well cooked - everything I chose was delicious - and looked after admirably by all of the team. Would I stay again - not sure - would need to find out the facilities of the room and whether I could hang up my clothes for the week !

Good and not so good

The only qualm I had was the restaurant and kitchen. The restaurant particularly at breakfast was chaotic and disorganised but the meals we had were chilly and disappointing. There was no direction from the staff as to what would happen ie serve yourself or seved. And we had to resort to asking other visitors. Some food was cold when served. By far the bar staff were exceptional and knowledgable and the room cleaning was exceptional and friendly. Day reception was wonderfully helpful. Morning staff didnt even acknowledge my good morning or look up even though the place was empty except for me so they must have heard me as i went past.
