St. Andrews Links Tours and Activities

St. Andrew Links which includes golf and heritage architecture

Play a few rounds, practice your swing and embark on a walking tour at one of the oldest golf clubs in the world.

Golf has been played on the historic grounds of St. Andrew’s Links since the 15th century. Today, the “Home of Golf” comprises seven courses, a pavilion, a shop and restaurants. Relax in the serene setting of the Castle Clubhouse and relish the views of the St. Andrews Bay.

Among the world’s most iconic and oldest golf passages is the Old Course. Go on a guided walk with an expert for a greater understanding of its history and significance in the world of golf. Explore the picturesque terrain of the 1st, 17th and 18th holes and hear about the world-famous players that conquered these fairways.

Play on the remarkable Castle Course, which was designed in 2008 by architect David McLay Kidd. It stands on the cliffs to the east of the golf club and holds spectacular views of the town and the sea.

Other courses are the Balgove, Jubliee, Eden, New and Strathtyrum. Get a lesson with an instructor on these scenic fairways. Purchase a gift voucher lesson for a friend. Peruse the items, such as prints and jewelry with a golf theme, in the shop.

Take the kids on the Links Family Trail treasure hunt. Follow the map to find the golden ball. Enjoy a meal at one of the elegant restaurants, such as the Swilcan in the St. Andrews Links Clubhouse. It serves fish and chips and light bites to accompany the view of the Old Course.

Purchase deals that include courses and meals. Prices vary depending on the season, with the most expensive fees from mid-April until mid-October. Pay a small fee for the walking tour that includes a Callaway golf ball. The tour is unavailable in winter.

St. Andrew’s Links is 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) east of the city center. Take a bus to arrive here within 15 minutes or take a leisurely stroll across the Kinness Burn to reach the course in less than 1 hour. Visit the other prestigious fairways of the town at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) to the northwest.
