Staff are so great and helpful. I would advise for travellers to buy the excursion from them too bec it’s way cheaper than outside. The place is convenient for everything.

Had my booking cancelled and they demanded an extortionate rate to rebook the same room because a music festival fell on the same weekend. Instead of providing the room for the agreed price, they cancelled my booking and came up with all the excuses. The real reason being they’re greedy and wanted to squeeze more money out of me

The hostel is conveniently located in walking distance to the bus station and the city center. The building in which the hostel is, is not very good. The showers and toilets were clean. The room layout was fine. Beds were not comfortable. Especially getting on to the top bunk was a bit difficult. I was bit badly by some insects at night and had marks on my back and arms. Thankfully I had to stay there only for a night.

Worth a stay, but not the cleanest place!
We had a really lovely stay at Hostel Split Backpackers. I wasn't massively impressed by the cleanliness of the place, in particular the showers. Apart from that, the staff are incredible. Special shoutout to Nina, she was so helpful, giving us honest recommendations as a local. The location of the hostel is also great, and the beds are pretty comfortable.

I recommend you spend a couple extra euro and stay at another hostel. You won’t regret it. The hostel aparently changes their reception hours to bacially nonexistent during off season. I was lucky there was someone there when I came to check in, but the rest of my stay I hardly saw anyone and watched others struggle with check in. The man who was there occasionally wasn’t helpful at all either. He responded to everyone’s questions with “I’ll have to ask my coworker and get back to you”. After about 3 or 4 separate attempts of trying to pay my bill but no one being around, the man made an appearance. I tried to pay with my card and he told me there would be a 10% fee for using a card! It said nothing about this on their booking page. He then told me the total and it was about 6 euro more than my confirmation email said. I tried to show him the confirmation that said the price I was quoted but he kept saying he’d have to talk to his coworker. It all became too much of a hastle so I paid the extra euro. The location isn’t bad if you’re coming from the train/bus station. About a 5 minute walk and about a 5-10 minute walk to see the old town area. There’s not really a common area aside from the kitchen, which is very small. There’s no oven or stove just a microwave and fridge. Anymore than 3 people and it’s too crowded, which is often given there’s at least 3 8-person dorms. Overall, not a great experience. I recommend just booking somewhere in old town, they seemed nice.

We, just like all other hostels in split during the off season have 24/7 online reception, meaning you will be received and able to do the check in whenever you specify your arrival time, so the luck had nothing to do with you being able to check in on your arrival:). Second, we understand and apologize if you sometimes felt that your questions and inquiries didnt get through with our worker. Please understand that he just started to work with us, and I can assure you that within the first weeks he already learned to be as helpful as possible. Third, regarding the total you have paid, please check again your booking ref. I can only tell you that you paid the amount written on your reservation! If you have some doubts regarding the different amounts written on the reservation page we can explain to you more in detail, or you can also contact directly Expedia to confirm that the amount you ve paid was fairly charged. Thanks!

It's on the main road which is awesome They try to work with you The shower was dirty but not because the staff but because you're suppose to clean after yourself and some people don't They charge for towel My bed wasn't made upon my arrival but they quickly tended to my request is a nice fashion They stop taking card at 22:00

Good location
This is a cheap alternative for a short stay in Split. Close to the ferry terminal and old town. Not the cleanest and only one toilet for men and one for women. But you're unlikely to spend much time in the hostel as too much to do in Split or the islands.

Great location and helpful staff
I had a wonderful stay at this hostel. The staff went above and beyond my expectations. If you're an adventure seeker and want to find more secluded beaches, I highly recommend taking the ferry over to the island of Brac and renting a scooter to ride around the island. So worth it!

Stayed in the private bedroom. Looks like the photos. Nice and clean, close to boats and center. Tiny old TV. Bed was stiff as a board and the paper thin windows rattled when cars went by and didn't block out any noise at all. Good luck getting a night's sleep. Also, this room was separate from the hostel so guests coming home drunk mistook our door for the entrance and kept trying to pull it open in the middle of the night. No sound insulation from the stairs either. Get the other room facing away from the street.

Good quality for price paid. No shampoo available, wifi turned itself off one night but was back on the next morning. Ran out of coffee and tea before we arrived and was not replenished in the two nights we stayed. My two friends and I found this hostel to be comfortable and safe. Generally quite satisfied. The above were just things to be aware of. Nina the receptionist is very kind and helpful, gives you exact picture of what to expect in Split.

Basic room near the sights
I stayed in a private room with a bathroom. It was a bit small (especially the bathroom), but suited my needs for two nights. The hostel was a bit smaller than I expected: two bunk rooms, bathrooms, a common room, and one or two private rooms. Sounds pretty big, but the rooms were small. It was on the third floor and there was no lift, but "backpackers" is in the name, right? It is only a couple blocks from the old town, restaurants, ferry, train, bus, so I thought the location was ideal.

The staff are good and friendly helping the inmates. But the hostel is very small and the small common room has the kitchen, dining table,computer and seating place all in one. It was very difficult for 5 of our friends to sit and also eat when other hostel mates were present or when someone wants to cook. The tidiness in the rooms is mediocre and I feel the hostel is not worth the price they charge.

Amazing hostel and staff!
Stayed here before and after sailing Croatia and we could not fault the staff! They went out of their way to help us with missing luggage, washing, maps and much more! Great location and amazing price.

The hostel is easy to find and so close to buses, trains and the ferries. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hostel is very well cleaned a and very safe. It's so close to the shops, restaurants etc and safe to walk to at night. I'd highly recommend it

The people who work there are very helpful, however, they are often not there before 9am and in the afternoon. It is very close to the bus station and super convenient to the Old Town. Nice hot showers and clean rooms. Was very quiet when I was there.

Great value for money!!
We had an ensuite private room which was better than some hotel rooms I have stayed in! big bed, lots of furniture, proper nice bathroom, we were even allowed to check in earlier! There was a nice kitchen area and the only disappointment was that the two hobs were not working as people cooking were causing too much mess - which is understandable but we had to resort to cooking in microwave haha. Very helpful staff, 2 min away from Diokletian's palace, high standard - what else could you ask for! Remember that if you want to pay by card there is a few % surcharge.

We stayed in the private en suite room. The room itself was very nice and the hostel staff was great. Our main complaint was that the hostel is on a busy street and the room faces the street so the noise from traffic was very loud all night. The walls are quite thin so there was also noise from the hallway. Easy 5-10 minute walk to the old city although the area around it did not look very nice. Good option for a couple on a budget.

i had the most wonderful experience with hotel split backpackers. the hotel staff was so kind and friendly and made it a joy to stay there. it was in a great location, about a two minute walk to all the major attractions in town. the room and bathroom were very clean. and they even offer laundry service.

This hostel is nice and very close to the port and palace. The staff were lovely enough to wait for us when our flight from Gatwick was delayed 3hrs to check us into our room. Good price and good value for a central location.

It was very easy to find an perfect location next to bus, train and boats for Croatia sailing but still close enough to walk to old town.
