Located in Abruzzo, Silvi Marina is a seaside resort on the coast that belongs to the province of Teramo, at the foot of the hills of Atri and Città Sant'Angelo. The first settlements in the country date back to Roman times, especially coastal ones, linked to the ancient Municipium of Atri.
Visiting the village we note that, supported by round-arched walls, the town has largely maintained its original urban layout, with a single central road from which spread the dense network of streets that make up the city fabric. The ancient parish church of San Salvatore, dating back to the 11th century, overlooks the main square. Worthy of note and a fine workmanship a fourteenth-century fresco inside. Walking along the enchanting internal streets of the village you come across the graceful and well-kept belvedere. From here visitors can enjoy an enchanting view that stretches from Monte Conero in the Marche to the Tremiti Islands of Puglia.
In the following centuries, political and social vicissitudes determined the migration of the population towards the hilly area, where the medieval village of Castrum Silvi was founded, which today is the village of Silvi. Starting from the second half of the nineteenth century, also following the construction of the Adriatic Railway and the development of tourism, the coastal area has greatly developed.
Silvi Marina is defined as the Pearl of the Adriatic with its six kilometers of beach offers a pleasant holiday for all tastes for both families and young people. Blue flag for its clear water for several years, has a backdrop suitable for children. Crossed by several streams it is possible to practice rafting. For lovers of Abruzzo flavors and folklore, do not miss the "Arti e Mestieri" summer event.
