Goviers Cottage is set in the Regency town of Sidmouth just 600 yards from the beach. The two superbly appointed apartments within Goviers Cottage, Ada and Jula, were sympathetically converted in 2022 from the upper floors of the famous Goviers China Shop which closed in 2019 after 105 years of trading. The current owners of the property ran the business for over 35 years.
Being within the heart of the town centre they are just a short level walk to the quality shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants, award winning public gardens, seafront, theatre and cinema. The Cricket, Bowls, Croquet, Tennis, Sailing and Rugby clubs are also within walking distance as is the public swimming pool.
Ada is on the first floor and sleeps 4 with 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

If you are exploring East Devon there is plenty to see and do. For the children there is The Donkey Sanctuary (4 miles). Pecorama - model and miniature railway (9 miles). Crearly Adventure Theme Park (10 miles).
Sidmouth is in the middle of The Jurassic Coast which was inscribed by UNESCO onto the World Heritage list in 2001. It remains England's only natural World Heritage Site. The main town beach has, in season, facilities for surfing and body boarding and has lifeguard cover. Jacobs ladder beach, to the West of the town is beautiful for walks particularly at low tide. For walkers there is access to the South West Coast path with dramatic views of the Jurassic Coastline.

The history of the building is displayed throughout the property. Ada apartment – is named after the founder of the China Shop which opened in 1904 and Jula apartment is named after her Granddaughter Jula who decorated ceramics on the premises in the 1950s and 60s.
