Beautifully decorated house situated in a quiet cul-de-sac.
Beautifully decorated house situated in a quiet cul-de-sac. Big bedrooms with very comfortable double beds. Lots of unexpected but thoughtful extras like cake on arrival, milk in the fridge, teabags, coffee, sugar, nespresso pods and biscuits in jars. The kitchen was well equipped with good quality utensils and crockery, the oven was also very easy to use. The bathroom was exceptionally clean with a good powerful shower, towels and flannels and toilet rolls were provided. Unfortunately we had to call the owners when the smoke alarm battery decided to run out (why does it always happen at night?!) They were incredibly helpful. We stayed during a warm spell and so spent some time in the garden of an evening which was quiet and relaxing. The living room had a slight doggy smell about it which is unavoidable in a pet friendly house (we don't have a dog), however there are plenty of diffusers and we got used to it after a couple of days. Lots of cushions and throws for comfort on the two large sofas. There is a pile of leaflets for takeaways and places to visit on the coffee table and a folder with concise household instructions and information. Shipston itself is a lovely town. We ate at the Lazy Pug which had reasonably priced food (burgers, tacos and chicken bites), and a friendly atmosphere. We had drinks The George Townhouse and sat in the beer garden. The White Bear is more of a locals pub and we didn't feel comfortable taking our 10 year old daughter in there. There are plenty of small convenience stores in the town, Tesco, 2 Coops and a Morrisons Daily.
