Lake Michigan View
The cottage was bright and the view of Lake Michigan was beautiful. The access to the beach was really nice and there were not many people on the beach. The basement which I did not use except to come and go had an odd odor and seemed to have a dehumidifying system that worked continuously. Small problem with fruit flies in the cottage and they seemed drawn to the garbage disposal. The approach to the cottage makes it look a bit abandoned and since it was okay for dogs it might have been nice to have a little patch of grass for them. Those are all little things, my stay was very nice and fairly comfortable. Thanks for the Michigan beach vacation.

Beautiful views, excellent beach!
We had a great time on our trip! James was very easy to communicate with and was able to let my parents in to the cabin when they arrived before us and the code wouldn’t work. The views cannot be beat and you couldn’t ask for a better beach. We loved watching the sunsets each night. Comfy beds too! Some additional feedback: if you have toddlers or mobile babies, the deck doesn’t have a rail which means constant vigilance while you’re out there. Kinda makes it hard to relax haha. The cabin doesn’t have AC and on warmer days the afternoon sun makes the cabin VERY stuffy so bring fans. There are ceiling fans but some don’t reach top speeds. Suggestion to the owners would be window treatments for the kitchen/living room windows to help cool off during the hottest parts of the day. Overall, we really enjoyed our vacation, and we thank the owners for our lovely stay.

Fantastic Vacation
Our family of five stayed here with our two dogs and we had the best week to close out summer vacation. The location was great. Quiet, quaint community with markets and restaurants nearby. The house was well equipped, comfortable, and clean. The beds were super cozy and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was the best. It was a pleasant surprise to find a great supply of dishwasher tabs, dishwasher soap, trash bags, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash at the house. I’m not sure if that was the owners or past guests, but based on the oversized containers, I’m guessing the owners. Such a nice touch! We cooked a lot and the gas Weber grill was fantastic. The kitchen had everything we needed for quick, easy summer vacation meals. I even noticed a crock pot tucked in one of the cabinets. We enjoyed many campfires and stargazing, which resulted in catching many shooting stars. The beach this year is spectacular. Lots of room to run and play and just have fun. Plenty of room to walk in either direction too, which our dogs loved as much as we did. We had fun exploring where the river meets the lake about 3/4 of a mile south down the beach. Jim, the owner, is super responsive and was great at answering questions in advance of our stay. Thank you for sharing this great home with us! We hope to be back next year!!

Another great beach week this year!
After staying last year we decided to stay at this lovely cottage again this year. The house is light and airy and not musty like some other beach houses we’ve stayed at. It is well stocked with beach towels towels and kitchen essentials.the deck is wonderful for dinners and sunsets. We enjoyed a fire one night in the fire pit.The few steps to the large beautiful beach is an easy trek for all. Again we enjoyed long walks along the beach and both calm and wavy water days. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us once again!

Beach is worth the price
The beach for this property is amazing and we loved it. No AC is not the best especially with air quality being poor some days. Bring lots of fans to move air around. Downstairs bathroom needs work.

Wonderful family home
Back by popular demand, this was our second trip to this home. You cannot beat this location for amazing sunsets and a beautiful beach. The house was very clean and well stocked with all the comforts of home. It easily accommodated our family of 8. Jim, the owner, was quick and responsive with communications. Definitely a 5 ⭐️ rental.

Quiet and Beautiful
This is a great quiet spot for those that enjoy the beach. Our weather sucked in part due to the Canadian wildfire smoke, we have bad luck! The home is a good size for my wife and I with our grown children and their little ones. It was well kept for an older home and some nice upgrades were done on the mail floor. If you are big on cooking at home, you may want to bring everything you count on. The kitchen materials are dated and limited. There are ceiling fans throughout the house and if the temps are moderate they are ample to kill the heat. There is no air conditioning and had no issues but high temps were in the seventies. Would do it again.

Fantastic
My husbands family and I have tried to come to Michigan every year since that’s where they grew up. This has been the best place we have stayed. Fully outfitted with kitchen supplies, even had a crockpot. Great views and owner was awesome. Will be staying there again!

Fantastic beach week on Lake Michigan
This house on Lake Michigan checked most all of our boxes. Super close to the water and a large beach. The water was cold our week but that’s Lake Michigan and we were able to kayak and paddle board on calm wave days. We were able to take long walks in both directions. We utilized the fire pit for an evening fire. The deck and grill were great. The house was spacious and the kitchen well stocked. Everything was clean and it wasn’t musty. The best for us is that it is pet friendly and Lily enjoyed herself immensely-swimming in the lake and hanging out with us. Super easy access to the house and very clear house rules and expectations. Also really appreciated the local market restaurant and other local info! The only downside is no air conditioning. There are ceiling fans and we brought 3 fans but if it was much hotter (it was 75-80 while we were there) the afternoons would have been pretty muggy inside for some in our group. Thankful for our family time at this wonderful place!

Wow! The view is stunning.
First of all, the view is beautiful of Lake Michigan! You have a very clear view down over the water, which was captivating as soon as we arrived. We spent every evening watching the sunset and mornings sitting on the deck with coffee watching the sunrise. The pictures don't do it justice. We absolutely LOVED our stay here! The house was clean and the decor was nice and more updated. We appreciated they had extra beach towels for use and even shampoo/conditioner in the bathrooms! We slept in the xtra King room and gave the Master to my in-laws, and we both agreed that the mattress was very comfortable for sleeping. Each closet had a cube organizer which actually was great and helpful. We were able to put away clothing items and organize better with that. The walk down the water was minimal which was lovely and there were about 100 feet of sand which gave us lots of space to set up our beach stuff and let the kids run/play in the sand. Even with the other neighbors at the beach and the public beach access a ways down, we felt secluded and loved having our private area. The outdoor shower was wonderful to have and rinse off the sand. Many times we just gave a quick shower to our kids outside. We appreciated that all rooms had ceiling fans. We were lucky that the weather wasn't too hot except for the first day. The first day was a bit rough being in the high 80's with no A/C but we managed. We wished the top windows opened up to allow more of a breeze - they open at the bottom which doesn't help circulate the air much so on the first day, it was very hot in the house and for sleeping. We also wished there was a railing on the other side of the stairs from the basement to the top floor. We have small kids, so we were concerned they would fall and made sure to keep a closer eye on them around the stairs. Other than those minor things, we had a fantastic time here and made a lot of great memories.

Wonderful, relaxing stay on Lake Michigan
My family thoroughly enjoyed our week at this charming and comfortable lakefront cottage. It was bright and airy, with lots of room for everyone to spread out. Accommodations included bath products, linens, and bath, kitchen, and beach towels. The reliable wifi was much appreciated, as one of us had to do some work while there. The expansive deck provided plenty of space and outdoor seating to take in the awesome lake views and unbelievable sunsets. There was also easy access to the beautiful white sandy beach. And, the sound of waves could be heard from most of the rooms, which helped to provide a very soothing night of sleep. All in all, it was an amazing stay!

We were super excited to see a dishwasher had been installed! We had a great stay. Beds are super comfy and linens are very nice. Plenty of room for 4 teenage boys to spread out and our dog absolutely loves his life for the week.

A great family place
We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. Jim provided all the comforts of home and Mother Nature did an outstanding job as hostess! We especially enjoyed the thoughtfulness Jim put into the accommodations. Serene stay on Lake Michigan
The view of Lake Michigan from the deck was the best. No trees were obscuring the view. The walk to the beach was very easy with minimal steps. My husband & I loved the openness of the home. the tall ceilings in the home were beautiful. The wifi was very reliable as we both worked while there. The best part of this house is the sunset every night. You can watch the sunset from the deck, master bedroom, living room/kitchen. The brightness of the sun setting is so magical. This was not a dealbreaker but if I were being picky I would love to have a dishwasher. But again… not a dealbreaker. We would definitely stay again!

Again!
We love this home. This is our second year to rent it and if we weren't possibly moving next fall, we would be back. This is a perfect spot for folks like us that just want some peace and quiet from our hectic lives and jobs. The minute our feet hit the floor, our blood pressure drops. We all sleep better at night and we sure enjoy a glass of wine while we enjoy the most magnificent sunsets. There is plenty to do in the area, but we are there to rest. We come home feeling like we've been on a three week cruise. Jim and Betsy Baker are wonderful hosts and, although we have never met them, every need was taken care of. The kitchen is well supplied and there are many staples there. As I write this, I can picture the birds settling in on the beach, a sailboat heading home and the sun dropping like a bright ted ball into the sea.

Best Lake Michigan Beach and Sunset Views
What a great place! The magnificent views of Lake Michigan from the deck were spectacular. We were lucky that the weather was perfect and we experienced 7 sunsets! The rooms are vary spacious and enough to accommodate our family comfortably. The kitchen was a bit small, but we made it work. The beach is absolutely wonderful! It is easy access and large in width and length making it feel very private. Prefect for early morning walks. The sound of the waves can be heard from most of the rooms and are very soothing for sleeping. The wonderful ambience of this lakeside house all combined for us siblings/spouse to be able to withstand each other for a whole week….a whole week! Just kidding. A truly awesome place. Thank you from our entire family…,The Russman’s James was also very helpful in responding to the many questions we had prior to our arrival. Thank you James for sharing the comfort of your home!

Summer stay
We all had a great time, relatively easy access to the beach, beach was wide and clean. Deck had great views of the lake and sunsets every night. The house was adequate for a large group, except the kitchen is tight and not much counter space. Some very minor repairs needed, several loose steps. Overall was a good space.

Nice place right on Lake Michigan
Overall this is a good place to stay. The location/proximity to the lake is amazing (as long as you can handle stairs!), and there was plenty of room for all of us (Two adults, three teens, one 10 year old, 2 dogs). We really appreciated the king size beds, and that there were enough bedrooms for the kids to have some privacy.The bathrooms were very clean and updated, which was great. The outside landscaping could use some maintenance/updating, we brought our dogs (which was a huge positive, to be able to bring them), but the yard was very overgrown even right by the house and near the deck, making it difficult for them to go to the bathroom. There were a few loose/uneven boards on the deck and it in general looked a little unkempt, especially on the street side. But the view was AMAZING, and the beach is gorgeous! Very sandy, not crowded, and a perfect place to see beautiful sunsets! We happened to be there on a few days when it was very hot, I would highly recommend bringing fans, there are ceiling fans, but no AC, and the windows open at a slant and are low to the ground so it doesn't allow for a lot of air flow on hot, humid days. The kitchen was functional, there are not a ton of pans and the ones that are there are fairly old and worn. Not a huge deal at all, but if I had known I would have brought a couple of my own pans.The grill outside is very large and worked well. One word of warning, that is not the fault of the owner at all, but greatly impacts our choice of where we stay-there is NO cell service AT ALL at the house, in the yard, or on the beach. We needed to drive to the main road to get even a hint of service (we have verizon, for reference).There is wifi, which is fantastic, but it went out for about 12 hours the first day, and we were completely unreachable/unable to make calls. As much as I love to 'unplug', we own a business and it is not possible for us to be unable to communicate while we are away. The host was very responsive and helpful when the internet went out, it was not his fault of course, but we were a little stressed that first day because of the situation. When we had a medical emergency a couple days into our stay, thankfully the wifi was functional so we could call 911. (all ended up fine, and the emergency had nothing to do with the house itself). Overall this is a good place to stay, and we would recommend it. The view/beach alone was worth the cost!

A couple of comments: cell coverage is slim on the lake side of the dunes, to be sure. Phone calls can be made, however, by setting your phone to allow WI-FI calling, which works great!

Family week at the Big Lake
This cottage was so great for our family! Love having everybody sleeping on the main level. The beach is close and very clean. A lot to do in the area for any age. Watched storms come in and meteors on clear nights. Beautiful views. Lots of room in the common area and enjoyed the large deck. The kitchen, however, is not necessarily conducive to cooking for a large group. Mostly small pans and no griddles, slow cooker, etc. We did a lot of meal prepping at home (taco meat, pulled pork) so that helped. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful home with stunning views and easy beach access!
The property was exactly as described. Large windows throughout the house allow for gorgeous lake views everywhere you go. The deck and beach were where we spent most of our time. Warm beach days and beautiful sunsets all week. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The house does get warm at times during the hot summer days/nights, but a box fan or two will help. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent here again!

Lake Michigan Week
Our family had a delightful week at this beautiful property. The design of the home allows for group gatherings as well as quiet alone time. Comfortable beds and nice linens. The kitchen included all that we needed. Best of all is the location. It feels like the forest while driving in. The lakefront is breath-taking: wide beach, rolling dunes and a deck that was our favorite. Thank you very much!

Great Beach House!
Property was as advertised. Property was clean. There was plenty of room to sleep the 9 people in our party. Bathrooms were recently remodeled and nicely done. Kitchen could use an update and an addition of a dishwasher in the process and then this property would be outstanding. The beach was fantastic, not too many steps down and lots of dry sand before the water (at least 50 yards). Overall a great stay!

A little love needed..
Great time with family and grandchildren. Beach access was a bit rough and further than I realized. Driveway was scary to back up and un load cars. Needs landscaping love or at least weeds knocked down..but overall we had a good week and enjoyed every minute of the beach and the view..

Awesome Deck and beautiful view. Plus, tons of beach that is easily accessible! Only thing to note is that the 5th bedroom is actually the TV room that is right off the kitchen. It does not have a closet and the doors are frosted glass that you can see through. Not much privacy for this room.

Serene Lake Stay
We had a wonderful stay at this property. The weather was beautiful and cool all week. There is no a/c in the cottage but there are abundant windows throughout. The cottage was cute and comfy for our family of 8. We appreciated the generous provision of linens and the cleanliness of the property. The owners have graciously provided shampoo and soap for the baths which was a very nice touch. The beach is wonderful and the sunsets were absolutely stunning!

It’s risky renting on the big lake even at the end of May weather wise. This year we had cool weather but it was still worth it. Sunsets were beautiful, bike trail was fun, ice cream was good and the house had everything we needed.

A Wonderful Stay
The property was exactly what we needed for our first family vacation in 1 1/2 years due to COVID. It is very remote, which we appreciated. The nearest grocery store is a a bit of a drive as are any attractions you may want to try. If you have toddlers, bring a baby gate. This was the only issue we had while renting this property. There are stairs going to the basement that can be a hazard, so our toddlers were often contained to the game/TV room when we were indoors. The kitchen is small but we managed well enough to feed 9 people on a daily basis. The property manager was quick to respond and very pleasant and accommodating. We will rent this property again for sure!

Having been cooped up at home in Marietta, Georgia since March, we not only suffered cabin fever but also had a great need to see (at least) one of our children. Since our daughter and her husband have been working from home, they also needed a break. North Cottage was perfect! The dogs enjoy long walks on the beach, practically pulling their owners over while leaping with glee at the waves and chasing the seagulls. They enjoyed their vacation also. As we leave here this morning, we are already thinking towards next year . We couldn’t have predicted how perfect the house would be. Just walking in and looking out at the lake, we all felt a drop in blood pressure. This is “the place” to unwind and enjoy time with family.

A Perfect Autumn Getaway
The cottage was beautiful! Private, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. We spent days running up and down the beach with our toddler and enjoyed spectacular Lake Michigan sunsets in the evenings. The weather was seasonably brisk, so we were thankful for the large windows that let us take in the sights and sounds from indoors as well. Overall, highly recommended home away from home.

Beautiful beach home!
This was the first vacation my family and I took in 2020 and, needless to say, we were all in desperate need of some time away. This beach house rental did not disappoint! The home is beautiful and in a quiet neighborhood. But, the view was the best part. This house is just steps away from a beautiful beach. The sound of the waves from the house are very calming and we were able to see the sunset from the back porch. It was a vacation we will never forget.

Perfect lakefront cottage
This cottage is a true gem. From the sweeping views of Lake Michigan to the comforts of the home itself, we have nothing but praise and would absolutely stay here again. The cottage was so welcoming for our multigenerational family gathering in a tough Covid summer. We were able to cook, swim, walk on the beach, admire the sunsets, and enjoy family time. Nearby organic farms and and the Saturday Montague farmers market fed us well.

Had a wonderful time on the shores of Lake Michigan. This wonderful cottage was very updated and had everything you would need for a great week. The beach was sandy and very clean.The owners were very nice. The Decor was super cute and the beds are very comfortable. The neighborhood people were very nice and informative of things to do in the area. I would definitely stay here again.
