Escape to a secluded retreat in an environmentally protected area, just minutes from a gorgeous beach and town. This 100-year-old Balinese teak house features two daybeds on the jungle-view deck, hand-carved shutters that open to soothing sea air, and lush land with exotic trees.
Wake up to the sound of the jungle. Bring your binoculars for the wonderful array of exotic birds right off the patio. In this peaceful, secluded and romatic retreat, in an environmentally protected area, you can escape the noise and activity of town. It is just minute's walk (7-10) from it's "own" gorgeous beach and close enough to town for nice walks through fabulous jungle (1.3 miles south of town.)
This is a house with character--a 100 year old Balinese teak house and casita perched above papalillo trees and palms, with a view of Monkey Mountain. The two bedrooms consist of 1 king bed, one queen, and there is a Bali bed in the living room, for a smaller person. The deck overlooking the jungle has two daybeds to relax, read and watch the amazing birds.
Throw open the hand carved shutters to the soothing air of the sea and jungle. On 3+ acres of exoctic, lush land, it is set in a grouping of 5 other like-style houses, all barely visible from each other on cobblestoned roads. A short stroll (7-10 minutes) takes you to a stunning, secluded beach, or walk the jungle road to town for your morning cappucino or noon fish tacos...And when day is done, fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle, the waves.
OUr retreat is actually 2 separate rentable houses; the Main Casa (2 bedroom, full kitchen, huge deck and patio) and the Casita (1 bedroom with deck overlooking jungle, kitchen facilities, #1291071). They can be rented separately or together. THIS LISTING IS JUST FOR THE 2 BEDROOM MAIN HOUSE.
Sayulita is a happening, cobblestoned Mexican fishing town with a friendly, happening zocolo (central plaza) as well as fantastic restaurants and shops. Take yoga , learn Spanish, explore the jungle, surf, snorkel or just relax with a margarita to the sounds of the surf and jungle.

Super cool house in jungle. Spacious. Wonderful Outdoor views and indoor furniture. Fun drive through the jungle but a bit rugged. Great walk to beautiful beach.
We really enjoyed our stay in the jungle. Pepe was awesome to work with and very responsive. If you are looking to spend multiple days in downtown, I recommend getting a golf cart. Pepe was able to set us up with one and it worked out perfectly. Thanks for letting us stay!
We loved the seclusion of this location. We did get lost trying to follow directions from the airport to Villa Bali. We would have loved access to some cleaning supplies like a broom, mop, cleaners, extra towels. A golf cart rental is a must. Otherwise it was perfect for a relaxing week. We will definitely return.
I loved staying in this hideaway. The property is beautiful and feels well-tended. The host was exceptional! I got updates, entry instructions, maps, and other helpful tips. The furnishings are rustic and comfortable. Water pressure in the showers is a little low, and you will want to pay close attention to the host’s instructions and maps — this place is definitely off the beaten path, and it’s worth burning the few extra calories to get there!
Beautiful casa in the jungle and very comfortable. Loved the bird life. Alejandro was excellent at responding to our needs. A 15 minute walk to a secluded beach that was clean and empty much of the time. However, the cobblestone road and stairs up to casa are very steep and not suited for anyone with a mobility issue or who is out of shape. The stair in the living room need a hand rail. A guard rail is also necessary. To keep people from accidently walking off the living room level to the kitchen level where there is a 2 foot drop.we did enjoy our stay very much.
Very beautiful jungle house, particularly if you want some distance from the noise and activity of sayulita . It’s a bit if a rough drive to get in and out so stock up - the house is spacious and very comfortable and the jungle life and perfect reading porch are all you really need for entertainment.

Loved our stay at this adorable private house in the jungle. It's a little tricky to find, dirt road, and stairs going up to house. Definitely not a great choice if anyone in the party has mobility issues. Get a golf cart to get to beach or town as it's a 15 min walk to beach, 45 min walk to Sayulita with hills.
This property is just as described. We love our stay. The ONLY thing to take note of: there are a lot of steps and they may be challenging for older guests. We had one older guest (78) and one younger (59). We did fine and Pepe provided a guided drive in. Be careful driving--lots of bumps and potholes. It makes it exciting. A terrific getaway.
This was our third time renting in Sayulita and this place was exactly as described. It was a lot of fun to wake up with the birds in the jungle. One note of caution though, it is not easy access for some people, lots of stairs and hills. Also being in the jungle with an open air house concept you have to be ok with some critters coming and going around. It was all good with us, but maybe not for everyone. You need a car (or a 4 wheel drive gas cart) but the new road is not that bad. I would stay there again. It was very comfortable and really special. Very restful. Beautiful beach. Great communication also.

Pros: It's very private, located up in the jungle with gated entry, but I walked 10mins to private beach and 40mins to town, and loved being in nature & watching/listening to all the different birds. Nicely decorated Bali furnished unique 3bed/2bath home. Big fridge/freezer, complimentary water bottles, cofee and sugar and loved their shampoo.
Cons: the sinks needed cleaning, trash left in the little bathroom, used coffee grounds still in coffee pot, the phone wasnt working & property mgr was unaware of it til next day when she came by. Also there was no microwave though the ad said microwave. And I was pretty cold at night, but mgr brought me a small, warm blanket on the 3rd day which helped. Paulina and the groundskeeper Jose were super nice :)
The best part for me was relaxing with open windows or on the private deck with warm breeze and fresh ocean air, and being able to walk to the private beach, and I didnt even need bug spray. It was definitely worth coming here.
The architecture is beautiful the setting is lovely, however this is NOT a good fit for anyone that is not fit.
We loved the noises of the jungle and during our stay would have loved to have a deck of cards or a cribbage board - as there is no TV or a radio and while we were there for 5 days we did not have internet service nor an emergency land line and neither of our two phone plans could place calls.
Thankfully we purchased groceries on the way to the house and could make the jungle trail walk, of 30 minutes, into the town to get limited internet reception to call/text the manager to report the lack of internet coverage every day of our 5 day stay.
Overall this is a lovely house in a lovely location. Our only complaint is the lack of internet and phone service.
We left the property 4 hours ago and are in another VRBO that has internet coverage and just received texts from the “Property Manager” about the lack of internet coverage that he sent us on Tuesday via text when we had no internet (today is Friday). We wish he would have sent someone to the house to deliver the news - lots of individuals were on the grounds, a gardener, someone doing laundry under the house, and the early housekeeper were all there on different days.
Lovely place to stay, but difficult to get to from town. Much closer to other houses than we expected, with parties going on late night on one of our nights at the house next door. Otherwise, this was a lovely, comfortable place with an amazing setting.
The building itself was incredible, and communication with the owner was always simple and quick, although I wish parking in our specific area was easier.
Jungle retreat and large secluded beach front, beautiful!!!
Property is beautiful, custom and unique home, amazing location, very secluded but with friendly neighbors and their pets. We rented a motorcycle as all the golf carts were rented, so make sure you have transportation reserved a head of time. Liz was fantastic and make this very clear to us. Beach was amazing, no more then 4 people, ever on a quarter mile stretch. Lots of wildlife, we forgot our binoculars, so make sure you bring yours. Would stay here again, thank you Liz!
The house is incredible. It's very special and it fits snug up on a hill in thick vegetation. The birds and foliage are simply stunning. The path to the beach is a very unique experience. Take taxi's to and from town it's cheap. Felt very remote, but was 5 min to town in taxi. Liz and the house manager were very responsive to any questions we had.
I really like the feeling of the house. There is something special being inside wood like this with the jungle outside.
The road is dirt and very dusty and may challenge smaller cars.... I gladly drive it to get away from the crowds and into the silence.
It's very quiet until the neighborhood dogs have an early morning conversation.
... Or the people in the other room start to giggle...
otherwise it's just jungle birds and distant ocean sounds.
The Villa is a beautiful combination of old wooden components (some Bali some Mexico? hard to know) added to a brick base structure. The cobblestone driveway is charming. It would be a great place to live for a few months to go deep.
Don't try to walk down the steps to the bathroom or kitchen in the dark.
In my opinion take the TV away and add some small audio speakers to connect to... maybe a small stovetop espresso maker. I played Balinese Gamelan music on my laptop to complete the ambiance.
Bring your own candles for night time atmo and honey for coffee or tea.
I'll definitely come back.
We stayed here for 4 nights in April. We rented a golf cart for the duration of our stay and it worked perfectly getting around town and to/from our booking. Driving to/from town is only about a 10-15 minute drive each way, and was simple enough to navigate.
The rooms are comfortable with ceiling fans sprinkled throughout. The cabin gets a little warm at night so it was wonderful having a little extra airflow. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and spending evenings on the deck (bugs weren't really an issue, if that's a concern for folks). We also enjoyed hanging out & picnicking at the local beach during sunset hour. What we enjoyed most about this cabin was not only the unique Balinese constructed cabin itself, but also the proximity to town. It gives you the feeling of being remote, but still having convenient access to the restaurants, shops, and beaches in town. I would highly recommend this booking for anyone interested in a more low-key Sayulita experience.

Loved the jungle retreat
We loved the beautiful casa and the jungle surrounding it. The beach was beautiful and often deserted except for the friendly beach dog who all ways seemed to be there. The walk into Sayulita only took 25 minutes and then we would cab back. It was a very different experience then staying in a hotel and we really enjoyed it.

Words can't describe how my friends and I enjoyed Villa Bali #3. The calm of the place, the easy access to a secluded beach and the 10 minute drive in pure jungle are some of the reasons why the Jungle Retreat is a perfect place for the mind...

Unique housing in a beautiful jungle setting
What a pleasure to be in this Balinese style house, with a great long deck to live on as you listen to the chorus and bird watch in the thick rain forest, or relax to the amazing insect sounds at night. It made me nostalgic for the years I was in Bali. The place is set up with love, very aesthetic, clean and charming.
Nature lovers who like walking and want to be near a charming town full of color, good food and fun--this is for you. We bought food from home and also stopped at the big Mercado on the way from the airport, and enjoyed making several meals a day in the kitchen with doors that open onto a patio. The garden and house were so clean, I only worried if they use round up or pesticides. The owner and her caretaker were responsive and nice.
The master bed is lovely, but you have to watch your head getting in and out of the Bali bed which would be much better if set up away from the fridge, and the third mattress is quite hard. Other than that, its a treat and a blessing to stay in a place so lovely.
