Steigenberger Hotel El Tahrir Cairo

10/10 Excellent

"A very clean and comfortable and modern hotel. The breakfast was excellent and good choices. Staff are always smiling and helpful and they do a thorough job of cleaning the rooms inside out. We chose the airport hotel taxi, which was very prompt and patient even though our flight was delayed. The location is very close to one of the museums and lots of shops and restaurants around."

Marriott Mena House Cairo

10/10 Excellent

"It’s a wonderful place to stay for any reason, food is delicious! Room, interior and exterior are always very clean. The view of the pyramids from the restaurant is amazing!! The entertainment! Everything is first class. But the most wonderful thing about it, is the staff, always on top of your needs, very nice and attentive. I was sick for a few days and the called to check on me, sent me soup, tea…. I just love the place. You will not regret it. Gooooo…."

The Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo

10/10 Excellent

"What one would expect from a 5 star hotel - spacious rooms, attentive staff, excellent food and restaurant choices. Enjoyed the breakfast as there were a variety of food choices. While we did not face the Nile or street view, we faced toward the museum. The sound from outside below (wedding and entertainment patio) carried to the 11th floor so if you are not a sound sleeper, suggest bringing ear plugs or don’t go to bed before 10 pm!"

Sama Hotel Sherif Bash

10/10 Excellent

"From check in to check out Sama hotel sherif bash was awesome. Staff arranged for an airport pickup and helped with our luggage up to our rooms. They were clean and had enough space for our belongings. The bathrooms were clean and the shower got hot. The staff continually checked in on our needs and offered various amenities. I could not recommend this hotel enough. I felt safe and comfortable for my entire stay. They also offered free breakfast but unfortunately we were not around for it."

Sofitel Cairo Downtown Nile

10/10 Excellent

"Great hotel - just as well as Cairo was a big disappointment! We booked the opera suite which was exceptionally good value. The club room was fantastic for evening drinks/nibbles and for breakfast. The staff at the hotel were fantastic - from checking in to the staff at the clubroom. Would recommend"

Panorama Pyramids Inn

8/10 Good

"One of the good thing in this hotel is you will never get hungry. Free snacks and beverages are always served most of the time. Although the room is not so perfect, 'coz we're not lucky to reserve a room facing the pyramids, but you can always see the panoramic view at the roof top terrace anytime. And with regards to staff's customer service, the only word I can say is "bravo""

Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza

10/10 Excellent

"Very good. Reception was a little slow and what would normally be a minor issue re room upgrade was more challenging than elsewhere. On the plus side, the shower was fantastic, house keeping excellent, concierge terrific, restaurants very good, breakfast good. The important question would I recommend the Four Seasonns, the answer is yes"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Saqqara?

The best time to visit Saqqara is during the cooler months, from October to April, to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Visiting during this period avoids the intense heat of the Egyptian summer, which can make exploring the open-air archaeological sites quite challenging. The temperatures are much milder, typically ranging from 20°C to 28°C during the day, making it great for spending several hours outdoors. You'll find it more pleasant to walk around the Step Pyramid complex and explore the various tombs without feeling overwhelmed by the sun.

Couples looking for a romantic and comfortable trip will find these months ideal. The pleasant weather allows for leisurely exploration of the ancient wonders, and you can take your time admiring the intricate hieroglyphs and structures. It's also a good time for photography, as the light is generally softer and clearer.

For those interested in a more relaxed pace and fewer crowds, aiming for the shoulder months within this period – October/November or March/April – can be particularly rewarding. You'll still benefit from the excellent weather but might encounter fewer visitors compared to the peak winter months.

Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?

Many Expedia hotel reservations are refundable, provided that you cancel before the hotel's cancellation deadline − this is often within 24 to 48 hours of your scheduled arrival. If you have a non-refundable booking, it might still be possible to receive a refund if you cancel it within 24 hours of booking. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. For maximum flexibility, use our 'Fully refundable property' filter during your search to find the right Saqqara hotel for you.
