The “bones” of this house are very good: large indoor spaces, knotty pine everywhere, 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. However, the website does not indicate that pets should be crated when the renters are gone; this necessitated driving 1.5 hours each way to purchase crates for our 2 little dogs. When we arrived the access code provided did not work and we waited outside for an hour before this was resolved. Shortly before our arrival time we were informed that the HVAC system would be replaced during our stay. The workmen were in and out of the house for 8 hours one day, so one of us had to stay on premises. When they “finished” the AC still did not work so on another day one workman stayed another 4 hours to clean the algae from the system and vent it. There is ample furniture in the house, but some of it is old and in bad shape, especially in the main living area. The 2 outside decks are large but basically unusable as the furniture cushions are dirty and covered with mildew. One bedroom has several bed slats that are broken and sticking out. A pillow had blood stains and at least 2 towels were soiled before use. Though pets are allowed, there is little grassy area for them to go outside on a leash and walking them is not easy. If we had to do it again, our dogs would stay home.The game room is not adequate. Several board games are missing needed pieces and the air hockey game has broken pushers. Our children could not use the room for its intended purpose. .
