"what a great pousada in central Portugal. makes a great stop if traveling from the north to the Algarve. i certainly wish that time allowed a longer stay. the village is quite small and the hotel is surrounded by farm land. the building was originally a monastery in the 1400's. it is a national monument. stone walls, high ceilings, and very atmospheric. property includes a small museum & panels with building history. staff at check in was so welcoming. the desk man insisted on carrying our bags...
