What a lovely location although there are multiple suites and rooms, from the majority of vistas they are all nestled within the land and discrete. There were issues with the room but we were kindly offered alternatives. Breakfast was included and you couldn't eat enough. The grounds were impressively level given the graduated levels of Maderia's landscape.

Amazing garden

Wonderfull hotel with amazing garden. Nice staff. Clean. Very good breakfast. We were not that impressed with the dinners we had on the hotel, we prefered the other restaruants just outside the hotel instead. Be prepared for many stairs and some steep pathways, as the rest of the island.

The hotel is inside a botanical garden so if you like flowers this is the place to be. We had a huge room with lot of space, access to the spa on top of other facilities. The hotel needs a bit of maintenance, but it is still a very nice place. It's our 3rd time there over the last 10 years and I'm sure we will come back again in the future.

All good, brilliant place and hotel with great food, and facilities. But we needed access to a firstr aid box one evening and not a single one could be found across the entire hotel. I ended up getting what I needed for an open bar in the town. This needs to be fixed.

Stunning gardens, pool and kitchen garden. Absolutely beautiful surroundings. The hotel rooms are set in gorgeous positions but ours (1116) was very dated. Felt a bit like a very large room in an institution! Bathroom sliding door needed repair and the shower was a trickle. Dirty seal on shower too. Felt it could be an amazing hotel given its layout and gardens but not sure what it would be like when busy. There were very few guests when we were there but the many, many loungers round the pool suggested a very different experience when full.

One of our best stays ever. Canico the best place to stay and this place is the best place in Canico although the room we has was dated. An one the room stole a KitKat - strange but true. Ground and garden are truely extra-ordinary and amazing. Restaurants are amazing and th staff and mostly amazing.

I love and would return to this hotel every time. The property is absolutely stunning, the pictures do not do justice. The staff at the reception and throughout the property extremely friendly. The only mishap I had was at the main restaurant during breakfast where one of the waitresses thought it would be ok to harass someone while eating to pay immediately. Otherwise it was spectacular.

We checked in after a cancelled flight, the staff at the reception said i had to leave my passport with them as they werent allowed to take photocopies so they should manually enter my details. Said to call back 1hr later, phoned reception & they said to wait til morning. I felt very uneasy being abroad without my passport near me. The following morning i went to collect it from reception & it was just behing the desk in a pigeon hole shelf. Not even locked away in an office. The interior decor is also quite old fashioned, plus plenty of dark wood, wasn't our style for hotels.

It was really uncomfortable to stay in a hotel room without air conditioner. I wished I realized it when I booked the reservation. Tried to change to a different hotel but wasn’t allowed. And since I had paid for the room in advance I had no other option but to stay.

Beautiful location overlooking the sea

This is a lovely hotel set in beautiful gardens, even in August they were stunning, with lizards and butterflies galore. My studio was almost as big as my flat back home, equipped with a kitchenette, huge bathroom, separate bedroom area and semi-private garden and patio. Towels are provided for the pool and sunloungers. I sampled the spa too, had an amazing deep tissue back and shoulder massage and a manicure on 2 separate days. Both were great and you can use the spa for free of you have a treatment. The spa is fairly basic though. Most guests were singles, or couples of all ages. There were few families, all with very well behaved children and a number of mother and daughter pairings.

No AC in rooms. Door lock “battery” stopped working 1/2 way through stay: despite effortful attempts by young staff member to over-ride - main room door lock remained inoperable. Could only be accessed by master lock card- which could not be given to us. Their solution: call for a staff member to let us in when ever we left and sought re entry to our room, until the maintenance person could replace the lock the next day (we checked out the next day). Staff made “their” problem, our problem as a guest and offered no gratuity, or offer of further accommodation in lieu: bad business practice. Next- smokers everywhere! Lighting up, during meal times, by the pool, EVERYWHERE! Have dedicated smoking AND NON-smoking areas. Nobody ahould have to be aubjected to those carcinogens by proxy as part of a spa wellness stay: lastly- The food was OK, but much of their offerings were “re-dressed” and presented as fresh. The fruit salad was clearly old and reused over 2 days, as it was swmming -literally drowning in its own juice at the beginning of next day breakfast service. If we come back to Madeira, we wont choose to stay here again, nor offer recommendations to do so. It was a beautiful property, but poor customer service and quality comtrol are of definite concern. 4/10 over all

We loved our stay here. We didn’t like the first room that they provided us. As it was just few steps away from the pool and you could smell the chlorine while inside and it wasn’t the quiet area obviously! And very exposed. Anyway, we contacted the reception and they kindly changed our room. We didn’t have the best view but better than the 1st one. The rooms don’t have ACs, we asked for a fan which was better than nothing. The room had a nice compact kitchen including fridge, cooking hob and kettle. The bathroom is good. Beds are comfortable but I forgot to ask beforehand for double bed instead of 2 single beds. The staff are very nice, kind and professional. Indoor swimming pool didn’t have a good air ventilation. It would’ve been better to have a nice fresh air down there. Outdoor Swimming pool is a bit small comparing to the size of the complex and the number of guests. Breakfast was good and fresh. Very nice cakes and different types of cheese. The coffee wasn’t good though. The area is absolutely gorgeous. We loved walking around checking the plants and trees and seeing all the butterflies, lizards and bees with the see view. It’s easy to take bus and go to Funchal city centre. However I think if you want to see more of the island in north, you need to hire car. Taxis and Bolt works good there. Bolt is cheeper though. We chose October for our trip as we thought it would be a bit cooler but was hot. We definitely recommend this place.

Studio économique

Hôtel bien situé pour visiter Madère. Cadre agréable et petits déjeuners variés, personnel aimable et parlant plusieurs langues. A savoir, le studio économique est au dessus des bureaux et donne sur les cuisines du restaurant et le parking. Le studio en lui-même est très bien,spacieux et confortable.Faites votre choix en toute connaissance.
