Beachfront Hostel
I recently spent a delightful 7 days at the Sand Bar Hostel in San Pedro, Belize, and it turned out to be a memorable experience filled with stunning sunrises, excellent service, and a great sense of community. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breathtaking sunrise from our room's sliding door. Waking up to the vibrant colors of the sky over the ocean was a daily treat that added a magical touch to our vacation. The hostel was well maintained, with a cleaning schedule that ensured our comfort every three days. The cleanliness of the place contributed to a pleasant and hygienic atmosphere throughout our stay. The front desk staff were exceptionally helpful, providing valuable information about the hotel's amenities and offering excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and eateries. Their local insights greatly enhanced our overall experience, making exploring the best of what San Pedro had to offer easier. Our room, though small, was cozy and perfect for two people. It met our needs, and the incident that occurred overnight, causing a temporary water shutdown, was swiftly resolved by morning. The staff's efficiency in handling the issue demonstrated their commitment to guest satisfaction. Speaking of the staff, their exceptional service went beyond problem-solving. Their friendliness and willingness to assist created a welcoming environment, making us feel at home!

I wish I found the Sanbar sooner, I probably would have stayed here my whole 7 nights in Belize. It's on the sand, facing the beach, walking distance from the water taxi drop off. There's a kitchen for residents, the pool was beautiful at night, hammocks. It shares a pathway with the DriftInn that has the hot tub.

I love this place!
This was my 3rd trip to San Pedro and I have stayed at Sandbar each time. I don't even look for another place to stay. Why would I? I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay each time. The staff is great and so is the location. Each time I have returned I have noticed several upgrades. I can't wait for my next trip there!

great location super clean yummy restaurant awesome staff especially alan provided excellent welcome and so helpful only a 5 minute walk from ferry good water pressure showers with hot water clean towels and cute bedding and comfortable wonderful wifi ac amazing all in all highly recommend :))

It is a good property, the standard of cleanliness is good although the coffee pots at the bar could use a wash with detergent instead of a cold water flush. Room and washroom were clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. There is a very strong smell Od cat urine around the lounge area especially from the couches.

We were greeted with a nice and thorough explanation and tour of the property at check in. The bed in the room was very comfy and the view of the ocean from the room was spectacular. The pool was a nice hang out spot and we even had access to the pool and facilities of the hostel/hotel behind it. Would stay again!

The beds/rooms are decent & what you expect of a hostel. There are no group activities or nightly outings of any such. Not so much the hostel experience I’ve been used to in other Central American countries. There is no information readily available for hikes/things to do while on the island.

Hi Carmen! Our apologies that we are not what you are used to in other countries. We unfortunately do not have hiking on our small island (its quite flat). We do have snorkeling, diving, fishing, kite surfing and lots of great activities. All of which can be booked at the front desk and is hanging on the guest information board upstairs next to your room. We hope you enjoy your next country you visit.

This was our second time staying here and we were not disappointed. The people are amazing that work there and even their tour company that they use is amazing! Belize celebrity tours! Best option for San Pedro
It’s probably the best option if you’re not staying in a top luxurious resort. All the other hotels in San Pedro looked lame and dated, whilst this hostel was groovy and smack on the beach front. Good drinks. The food sucked, but there’s plenty of great food options walking distance.

The place is in proper downtown, close to the restaurants. The restaurant has amazinnggg food! What threw me off was that their dogs were allowed to pee and poop where we were eating, which is gross! Most of the staff was very very nice except Jamhil, who was very very rude and had a horrible attitude. Overall, average stay.

Our apologies for the beach dogs. We do kick them out constantly and try to catch them and bring them to the humane society. But we agree there is for sure a stray dog problem island wide. Thanks for staying with us and we hope your enjoyed your time in Belize

First time staying at a Hostel. One of the absolute best places I ever stayed. Everything we needed was within a few paces. Staff was absolutely on point. You ask and they delivered, every time! Pool was super nice to relax after a long day or just chat up the many great tourist that come thru. Already making plans to come back. Had a great view of the beach and docks from out balcony. Make sure to get the meatball pizza! So good!

Sandbar is a great hostel! We got the ocean side room and we were very pleased with the place as a whole. We did think the balcony was private, however, it was not. It was not a big deal because everyone was very nice and pleasant to be around! The hostel was a great place to meet lots of different people, local and foreign. The pool was nice and we enjoyed the good food from the restaurant. The shared kitchen at drift was a plus. The location was perfect, we could choose to walk or take our reserved golf cart.

Super friendly staff. Food was great/lower cost bigger portions. Rooms were well kept. They run a lot of activities/excursions through this hostel. Biggest takeaway of staying in San Pedro is to not book any activities until you get there, spend the first day or two asking around and talking to the local guides, all of the outfits are out on the docks near all the hotels/bars on the west beach

What can I say? Third time I've had the pleasure to stay at The Sandbar. There's only positive memories! The locations is right smack in the middle of where you want to be. Literally on the water. Every time I go, I meet friendly people who I end up spending the days with. This is a HAPPY and stress-free place! This time I had a small private room but I've stayed in the hostel dorm rooms before and that was also a great experience! See you January 2023, Sandbar! P.S. Find Boots the cat when you go. She's the queen of Sandbar!!

RIPOFFS!
RIPOFFS!! I prepaid for 2 months starting Dec 7 2021, had my backpack with laptop, GoPro & tablet stolen from my bunk, they kicked me out Dec 24 Christmas eve over a confrontation I had with a local "Belizean" supposedly refunded my prepaid $ - NEVER did that I'm filing charges for FRAUD - Nightmare place!
