Grand dame past her prime

The Hotel is a Spanish Colonial–style former home of Mexican actor Mario Moreno. The facility is still exquisite and worth touring. But she is past her prime and not really well maintained. The gardens and villas are lovely and spending an afternoon on the large balcony looking out over the city and gorgeous sunsets is a more than even trade off for a dearth of modern conveniences (usb chargers, working a/c, etc). My room had a wonderful view of the city from the balcony, but the window latch was broken, which prevented me from closing the window to stop the road noise. The curtains were falling off, and without a ladder, they could not be reset. Plus, they had holes. I had a kitchenette with no utensils or pots and pans. There was NO COFFEE MAKER. Breakfast starts at 8:30am. I'm up by 5 so waiting so long for my first coffee was disappointing. Knowing all of the problems, I would still stay here. Just bring a pot and instant coffee. The cold room can be fixed by using blankets (in the summer). The window can be closed with a set of pliers; remember to bring a set. Oh, I did point these issues out to staff, and they said they would be right on them. It didn't happen.

Hotel from hell

It was a horrible experience. I arrived at 3 pm, room wasn’t ready. When I finally got a room the door jamb was broken and the piece of wood was just lying around with nails sticking out, room was musty w/ a door to the pool that hardly locked. I asked for another room, airier but the chain lock was broken, towels were gray, sink was cracked, no bulb in the lamp! There was also music blaring from the poolside. I couldn’t stand it as I didn’t feel left the hotel booked somewhere else. Hotel’s policy is you can be charged for 1 night for a cancellation. Manager has been avoiding me and supposedly messages from Hotels.com too. I am still out of pocket for my whole stay. Not sure how others rated this hellhole as 10/10. Stay somewhere else!!!

estuve solo 1 noche y no puedo decir que es el peor hotel del mundo, me hospedé ahí porque se ve bonito y porque en Expedia sale una mejor calificación que en Google Maps y eso es extraño, en Google está marcado como que es un mal hotel y de pésima limpieza, sin embargo traté de ir sin expectativas porque la gente suele ser exagerada; La chica de recepción es malísima, no sabe nada y no sabe con quien comunicarse cuando hay problemas, el anfitrión no responde mensajes o llamadas, en la parte del restaurante la chica joven de mesera es muy amable pero la señora que está de mesera es malísima no dice ni los buenos días, la comida está bien, no es la gran cosa pero lo vale por si vas llegando y tienes mucha hambre, creo que está bien por $150 pesos, el hotel tiene mucha historia y es muy interesante de ver, tiene muchísimo potencial. La habitación nos gustó mucho, fuimos a otro hotel y la habitación de este estuvo mucho mejor que la del Real de minas; es claro que les hace falta mucha limpieza y mantenimiento, las sábanas tenían manchas raras pero entiendo que a veces no se pueden quitar, si había agua caliente pero a veces no hay, el agua de la alberca es fría Llegué a ver a los reviews de Google que hay gente que se ha topado con cucarachas en los baños de noche y afortunadamente eso no me pasó, pero tenía esa preocupación y decidí hacer una llamada al hotel y la chica de recepción me dijo que las iba a ver y se me hizo horrible, no tienen intención de arreglar esos detalles

Tuvimos que cambiar dos veces de habitación por el ruido de la calle y condiciones de la segunda habitación. La ubicación es muy buena para desplazarse a pie a los lugares de interés en la zona.
El lugar se podría explotar mejor si mejoran ciertas condiciones de las habitaciones y servicios en las mismas

El hotel se encuentra a 12 minutos caminando del centro, lo cual es una ventaja, ya que el recorrido por las calles de San Miguel es muy agradable. Sin embargo, es importante mencionar que el hotel tiene muchos escalones, lo que podría representar una dificultad para personas con movilidad reducida.
