Woods of Shavano Hotels, San Antonio

"This hotel was great to stay in. It’s actually an old bank and you can even go downstairs to the river level and see its old vault. It’s beautiful inside and they have happy hour with free drinks and food. The breakfast buffet was also a decent spread and the waffles are delicious! I enjoyed my stay here and it’s very nice to just walk out of the doors on the river level and be right in the riverwalk. The only downside is that they only have valet parking which can get pretty busy, but we ended up parking about had a block down the street in a parking garage for less than the valet cost for overnight parking. "

"The breakfast was fresh, but the menu never changed. When we arrived, the water wasn't working in the whole hotel, and we weren't told that until AFTER we paid for the room. That was the case with some other guests as well. The rooms were cleaned only upon request. The drainage in the shower was AWFUL. The parking garage didn't feel safe as there were no barrier gates or doors to keep walkers from the street coming in and stealing and possibly mugging some folks. The hotel staff didn't seem confident or comfortable talking to guests and answering simple questions about the hotel and the surrounding area. "

"The men’s and women’s restrooms were out of paper towels for 2 days. The pool was filthy. Staff did nothing about the paper towels. The staff checked me in on the wrong day."

"When I first arrived, the hotel had a leak in the main lobby. Other than that, the hotel was a cozy place to stay. They had a decent breakfast, filled my tummy!"
