This wonderful cottage is part of Seaton Hall, an ancient manor house with over a thousand years of recorded history. For an authentic stay in somewhere truly unique, this is a perfect choice, immerse yourself in a holiday like no other. Seaton Mote gets its name as the property is beside the remnants of what was once a moat surrounding Seaton Hall. This stretch of water is now home to a family of ducks who nest amongst the reeds. Offering 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, this large property is perfect for a family gathering or special occasion. Entering Seaton Mote there is an open plan kitchen/dining room, where you can start each day with a hearty home-cooked breakfast, whilst planning the activities for the day ahead. The separate living room has plenty of comfy seating around the TV, for cosy movie nights in. The living spaces are snug making this property more suitable for groups of 8, although with the 5 bedrooms, 10 guests are welcome. There are three bedrooms on the first floor, and two on the ground floor.
Seaton Hall has a fascinating past, the hall was named after the De Seton dynasty who resided from 1130 to 1307, and whose family made allegiances with and marriages to the Scottish Royal family. Passed down through generations, before slipping into disrepair. The present owner purchased the estate in 2002. He has employed a team of specialist masons and craftsmen and has been lovingly rebuilding and restoring this incredible place of local heritage.
There is something to delight everyone in the area, with picturesque walking trails including the Cleveland Way leading across the cliff tops. Many pretty coastal villages such as Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and the historical seafaring town of Whitby will delight guests. Whitby, with its cobbled old town, independent shops and cafes, boat trips and the iconic Abbey ruins makes for a great day out. Saltburn is a surfer’s paradise, with a beautiful Victorian pier. You can take a trip on the steam train across the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, taking in the views and visiting some beautiful villages along the way. For children, you can ride the miniature train in Ruswarp before hiring a boat to row along the river. Youngsters are sure to be delighted playing on the beach as well as visiting the arcades and miniature golf in Whitby, for an extra special treat you can even take them to Flamingo Land theme park and zoo.
Pets are welcome at this property. This area is a haven for dogs, with lots of walks to choose from as well as many dog friendly cafes and pubs. Six ladies going to work their dogs on the moors.
Six ladies going to work their dogs on the moors. Big bonus is the 5 individual bathrooms, with plenty of piping hot water. Warm and comfortable throughout. The kitchen is a little tight with everyone in there working round each other and I think would be slightly frustrating for 10!Owner lives on site and is very helpful. Our dogs are used to living in the vehicles but the site was brilliant for early morning/late evening runs (obviously pick up after them).DEFINITELY RECOMMEND - we had a blast and laughed all weekend.

This is a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
This is a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. We have previously stayed at another property at Seaton Hall, which we loved and returned to several times. Although Seton Mote sleeps 10, we would say that the living accomodation is truly only suitable for 6, so fine for 10 if you want a place to sleep rather than spend time in. We felt that it needed some tlc, and some small changes to make it an easier place to stay.

We had a great family holiday! Six adults , 4 children and a dog.
We had a great family holiday! Six adults , 4 children and a dog. The beds were really comfy and the living room was great. The kitchen was tight with the table extended, but we mamged. There were enough pans and a good range of equipment, but not enough spoons for 10! We would go back, though.
