The Arcadian is the perfect choice for a special break away just for two. The coastline here is exceptionally beautiful, you are around a 5-minute walk away from the golden sandy beach. Skinningrove is a peaceful village and one of the few areas along the coast here still relatively untouched by tourism.
Stepping inside, local artwork adorns the walls, and the interior is tastefully decorated with a nautical theme. Dating back to the 1880’s this is a characterful old miners’ cottage. The living room is at the front of the property with a sofa and armchairs around the cosy wood burner. Enjoy home cooked meals together in the open plan kitchen with dining table perfect for two. Upstairs is the bedroom with a double bed and large double wardrobes for your belongings. The shower room has a large modern double shower, ideal for freshening up after a long day on the beach. Outside there is a locked shed perfect for bikes/surfboards and other outdoor equipment.
Here you are in the perfect location to enjoy the great outdoors. The village of Skinningrove is undiscovered by most tourists and is peaceful all year round. It is a quaint little bay, with neighbouring Cattersty Sands just a short walk away. This is the perfect choice for those looking for a tranquil beach holiday away from the crowds. The village is mostly inhabited by locals, with a little café, a village shop as well as a fish n’ chip shop. For those who love the coast, there are some wonderful beaches nearby to discover, either on foot along the Cleveland Way, which is a walking trail along the cliff tops, or by car.
Saltburn is a surfers’ paradise, with an iconic pier and trendy bars and restaurants. Staithes has undeniable charm; this village huddles around the shoreline, with fishing boats sailing out from the harbour. Runswick Bay is gorgeous, with sweeping golden sand, perfect for a scenic stroll taking in the fresh sea breeze, and Whitby is just a 30-minute drive away. This seafaring town has a fascinating history, with the abbey overlooking the cobbled streets, independent shops and quirky cafés. Visit the museums, ride a boat out of the harbour or simply take in the sights and enjoy award-winning fish n’ chips.
The North York Moors National Park is also on the doorstep, with ancient forests, miles of heather-clad hills and valleys, and lovely villages and walking trails. The many local events include Staithes’ art festival, Saltburn’s food festival, and Whitby’s regatta as well as the famous Goth Weekend. The big event on Skinningrove’s calendar is bonfire night in November, when residents build a huge wooden sculpture on the seafront, which is set alight after a spectacular firework show. Each season has its highlights, from impressive waves crashing on the beach in winter, spring wildflowers on woodland walks, glorious sunny summer days on the beach, or purple moorland as the heather bursts into bloom, then taking in the autumnal colours before warming up beside a crackling fire in a choice of cosy country pubs.

A really lovely comfortable cottage, well equipped and with plenty of space for two people.
A really lovely comfortable cottage, well equipped and with plenty of space for two people. Neighbours were friendly and very helpful. The village has few amenities although it is only a short drive to local shops and restaurants. The area is outstandingly beautiful and dramatic even on wet dull days, and stunning in the sunshine.

lovely little cottage, could do with a seating out area for 5 stars, that said it was only 5 min walk
lovely little cottage, could do with a seating out area for 5 stars, that said it was only 5 min walk to the beach.Kitchen had all the equipment you would need, maybe could do with a coffee machine(we took our own).Bed was very comfortable ,only complaint for the bathroom was the shower was extremely hot and would not turn down. There's a good pub in the village selling a wide range of food only 2 mins from house staff there were very friendly. Will certainly return so easy to explore the east coast from this location.
