About this property

The Old Stables — Wiltshire Countryside Cottage for up to 6 ppl.

  • Summary:

The Old Stables is a beautifully converted cottage set within 14 acres of Wiltshire countryside, just five minutes from Salisbury. Finished to a high standard, it offers two bedrooms — including a king with en-suite and mezzanine double — two bathrooms and a private patio with dining table, chairs and BBQ. Warm, characterful and completely self-contained — with fibre Wi-Fi, streamed TV and Sonos ceiling speakers throughout.

    The Space:

The Old Stables is one half of a converted stable and carriage building on the Alderbury Hill estate — a family home set in 14 acres of grounds, paddocks and open Wiltshire countryside.

The cottage sleeps six across two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed with an additional mezzanine level within the room, accessed by a fixed ladder, with a double bed — see photos for layout. The master also has its own en-suite bathroom with hand shower. The second bedroom has a full double. There is also a separate wet room shower. All bed linen is 100% cotton with feather duvets; synthetic available on request.

The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge with ice box. The living area is warm and comfortable, with fibre Wi-Fi, streamed TV and Sonos ceiling speakers. Outside, a private patio with dining table, chairs and BBQ looks out over the estate's paddocks and open countryside beyond.

On arrival you'll find milk, butter, jam, tea, coffee and sugar waiting for you — everything you need to settle straight in.

We offer local produce hampers, breakfast boxes and BBQ bundles — sourced from nearby farms and producers and delivered to your cottage before you arrive. Just message us at least five days before your stay to place an order.

A curated local guide is available with our hand-picked restaurants, walks, days out and local tips.

The Old Stables and The Carriage House share a central entrance corridor and can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests across 4 bedrooms, 2 mezzanine rooms and 4 bathrooms — ideal for large family gatherings or group celebrations.

    Guest Access:

The Old Stables is fully self-contained with its own private entrance. Guests have exclusive use of the patio area and BBQ, and are welcome to enjoy the estate's gardens, walking field and paddocks. We ask that guests keep to the guest areas and are mindful of the garden directly around the main house and the private spaces of neighbouring cottages.

We are usually on hand to welcome you on arrival and show you around. If we are unable to meet you, we will let you know in advance and arrange for your keys to be left somewhere safe.

Parking is available in the guest area next to the stables.

    The Neighborhood:

Alderbury village is just a few minutes' walk away, with a pub, a Post Office and a village shop open seven days a week. Salisbury city centre is five minutes by car — or take the bus from the stop just 100 metres from our drive. Salisbury Cathedral, one of England's finest, is well worth a visit.

Stonehenge is approximately 30 minutes away. The New Forest is on our doorstep. The Jurassic Coast, Lymington for sailing, Beaulieu Abbey and Motor Museum, and Longleat Safari Park are all within an hour.

    Getting Around:

Parking on site. Bus stop 100 metres away with regular services into Salisbury. Salisbury train station is 10 minutes by car, with connections to London Waterloo in around 90 minutes.

    Other Things to Note:

Check-in is from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. If you are arriving after 8:00pm, please let us know in advance and we will make arrangements to leave your keys safely.

No parties. We are a quiet country estate and ask that every stay remains peaceful for other guests and our neighbours.

Commercial filming requires prior approval from the owner and may attract additional charges.

Dogs are welcome — £40 for the first dog, £10 for each additional. Please keep dogs off the furniture and under control around our resident ponies.

The cottage involves stairs, including a mezzanine level. Carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are installed throughout.

We share the estate with Rudi our German Shorthaired Pointer and our two Shetland ponies, Manny and Felicity — all very friendly and love to say hello.

Other properties on the estate: The Carriage House (also sleeps 6), The Coach House Apartment (sleeps 4) and The Summer House (sleeps 4). The Old Stables and Carriage House can be booked together for groups of up to 12.

    Interaction with Guests:

We live on site and are usually around to welcome you on arrival. We are always available to help with anything you need during your stay.
