I came to Salem to attend festivities for my cousin’s 10 year wedding anniversary. The Grand Hotel in Salem, Oregon was grand indeed! I was and I felt like I was in the lap of luxury for four nights. Every staff member I encountered were helpful , friendly, and gracious. I really appreciated that I could check in early. My room was immaculate and spacious, which allowed me to spread out especially at the computer desk to do my business then adjourn to the plush love seat. The use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi helped me sleep very well! Food and drinks at the bar were excellent along with friendly servers. I might add breakfast(s) I looked to. The cool unique part was some elevators were walled with old newspaper articles on Salem’s history which I enjoyed since this is my state capital! Thanks Grand Hotel!!

This was a very nice stay. Everything was clean and well maintained, plus the free parking is nice. However, the property advertises a full, hot, chef-prepared breakfast as a main draw, but what they actually have is identical to a continental breakfast at a chain hotel, so that was a little disappointing.

Our front desk check-in was great. It was downhill from there. The hotel restaurant leaves a lot to be desired as the hostess did not inform our server that he had our table. But even after that, our server was inattentive and the food was mediocre. I ordered carrots, and that was lackluster. At checkout, the front desk attendant was more interested in chatting with guests rather than addressing the long and growing line of people trying to checkout.
