*** House Details *** Charming 19th century workers cottage, providing 4 bedrooms [all double beds] & 3 Bathrooms [2 ensuites & 1 shared], renovated in 2018, with many stylish design features, and decorated in a modern-rustic feel to a high standard, with all mod cons. Many original features being retained adding to the charm. Off street private parking available for 2 vehicles. Ideally placed within an easy stroll to the centre of town. Interior is well laid out with nice design features providing a comfortable living experience. also having a Stone walled garden for those alfresco opportunities.
The property has wheelchair access [60cm width] being limited to the ground floor living and garden bedroom with ensuite shower room. All thresholds have been minimised to allow ease of access. [however we cannot describe it as fully disabled access and use]. please check with us for any clarifications.
the property is over 130 years old and was built for workers in the late 19th century for 20 pounds. We have lovingly renovated and extended the property to provide all the requirements for modern day living and luxury comforts, whilst retaining many original elements to keep the cottage feel - you will find original stone feature walls, restored original floor boards, and the original stairs. The stairs are narrow and relatively steep by modern standards but are easily accessible with due care. In addition we have added underfloor heating to the ground floor living and garden rooms, to the tiled floors.
The accommodation is very compact but deceptively spacious, having designed the areas to maximise the ease of use and living comfort. We hope you will enjoy.

Well equipped, comfortable cottage with double parking in a gorgeous part of Salcombe. Finding the accommodation proved a little tricky, and we suggest approaching via Coronation Rd on arrival, not down Shadycombe Rd Hill. Easy communication with hosts & property manager, all very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, thank you!
What a gem of a property. We had a girlie weekend away and the place was ideally located. It was spotless, lovely comfortable double beds and was kitted out with everything we could possibly have needed! We will be returning
Lovely, clean cottage in a very picturesque area. We stayed over Christmas and had a lovely time. The cottage was clean throughout and very comfortable to stay in. There was ample parking available. Tim and Sarah were extremely helpful with anything that was needed and ensured our stay was a pleasant one. Would highly recommend.
We stayed for a family wedding in Salcombe, the cottage was perfect for our 3 generation family. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and in a peaceful location but still within a few minutes walk of the high street with its lovely shops, pubs and restaurants. Communication with the owner and housekeeper was excellent, parking was a great bonus.
Everything was perfect. Fantastic location, very comfortable, great beds, everything you need for a terrific stay. Bonus is the parking which is very poor in Salcombe.

Lovely property with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is beautifully decorated and we all went home wanted to completely redecorate our houses! Great location and super comfortable. Hosts were very responsive and the communication was great. We loved our stay and had a great time. Would be brilliant if they could look at getting WiFi coverage in the garden annexe room.

SUPER lovely and stylish home with great design and great location. Wonderful living room for everyone to hang out and chat. Lovely touches, very attentive housekeeper. Sorry to say one issue was annex 4th room was not the same high quality as the rest of the house: Cramped and water issues (beyond those described in advance by the owner). Suggest only booking main house - truly wonderful there!
We enjoyed staying at 5 Shadycombe cottage. Owner sent lots of useful information by email shortly before stay. The cottage was compact, clean and well equipped. The bathrooms were a little compact. The cottage location and proximity to Salcombe allowed us to walk into town. We found fabulous art store, along with a great bakery for breakfast goods and pasties, in addition fudge, chocolate and ice cream stores all very yummy. Be advised Salcombe itself is not car or wheelchair friendly. We were delighted with The Crabshell in Kingsbridge.

Washing machine moldy and not usable. All beds not made up on arrival despite that being agreed to in advance with the Owner. One of the beds was broken but was jury repaired by the cleaner, not for the first time. Sand in the bath upon arrival.
The photos of the property make it look bigger than it actually is. The garden bedroom has no ventilation or opening windows, thus too hot to sleep in.
Dining and seating area good and outside yard OK.
Overall I would just summarize by saying “renter be aware”.
We booked this cottage because my daughter was getting married at the nearby Salcombe Harbour Hotel. We arrived on a rather soggy, chilly November day and the cottage was so welcoming! It was so clean, warm and cosy we immediately felt at home. The parking for 2 cars was an added bonus in a town where parking can be tricky. The downstairs layout is very social, the kitchen had everything we needed and thanks to the instructions before we arrived we found everything easily! All the beds were comfortable with good quality bedding. All the bathrooms were warm and stylish. We had 4 generations staying at the same time and even my 85 year old Father managed the steep, tricky stairs. The cottage is 2 mins away from an excellent Co-op and there is an easy 10-15 walk into the centre of Salcombe. We had en excellent Sunday Roast at The Victoria Inn, the rest of the time we ate in the cottage. We would not hesitate to stay again, many thanks to Sarah the housekeeper for her excellent communication.
Location is a great place to stay in Salcomb A quick stroll to the centre and plenty of places to eat nearby. Beautifully furnished house and well stocked kitchen for family meals with everything thought of. Communication was excellent and 2 off road parking spaces rare for the central location.
Sarah the property manager was excellent , fabulous communication and any issues were sorted straight away would highly recommend! The property is lovey and very well equipped , great location right near island street and off street parking is a huge benefit. Would definitely stay again .
